This post goes out to anyone in the IG yoga community who feels remotely the same:
I’ve been feeling a strong reluctance to post, lately. A sabbatical from IG felt a little natural. Instagram used to feel like a happy little escape — I could show up, give a little, connect a little, be inspired, take something away and use it my practice. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Now, with the algorithm change and the bombardment of “influencers,” it sort of feels like a game — how can I get the most followers? Who can clamber to the top, quickest, and take what they can? How are you utilizing Stories best? Blah blah blah. It feels like an imbalance of tactics and taking, over art and giving. ❤️ But I hate to be defeated. And I hate giving up because someone changed the rules.
I’m on a mission to (try to) turn this ship around. Fuck the “engagement rates,” fuck the algorithm — I’m doing YogaPaws: a tiny little company who built a cult following because we do shit right.
Pardon the rant... Long story short: I’m taking it old school and am making a promise that, although we’re still a company that occasionally has to market it’s products, we will continue to build this community up and support each other. 🥰
#StopDropAndYoga to all my OG yogis. ❤️
