Yesterday we had a small reprieve from the storm so we decided to get out of town for a bit and visit a few areas along the 395. It's been quite the adjustment getting used to the snow and cold, especially as a long time resident of Southern California, but I can't think of a better place to call home than my beloved Eastern Sierra. ๐Ÿ“ท: Ceci @euphoriabum getting hit by some crazy winds in Mono Lake. #gearcooper #hiking #thriveoutside #easternsierra #neverstopexploring #optoutside #getolympus #monolake #optoutside at Mono Lake

#1: I will undoubtedly remember 2018 as the year I traveled to the roof of the world. Not only did I experience some of the most dramatic and beautiful mountain scenery and had some of the best hiking days of my life, I got to do it alongside my best friend. . More than anything, the time I spent in these mountains taught me patience and the true meaning of resilience. I learned to navigate around my expectations, to accept and enjoy any outcome regardless of my preconceived notions of success and failure. To enjoy being because that is where I am meant to be. . Wishing everyone a happy 2019! #thriveoutside #nepal #himalayas #gearcooper #getolympus #nepal8thwonder #himalayan_high #campingdonelight #neverstopexploring #greathimalayatrail #hiking at Nepal

Taking a moment to reflect on this past year and some of the experiences and memories that stand out. For the past three years I've done a top 3 count down, as a way to look back at my favorite memories of the year and also share some additional imagery that I haven't posted prior. This year I had a lot of "micro-adventures" so it was difficult to pick just one for my #3. Instead I decided to combine the mountain climbing adventures I had throughout the Summer. From an early season summit of Mt. Whitney, a few California 14ers, to climbing Mt. Rainier in a day, this year I had a lot of fun trying to get to the summit of mountains! #gearcooper #thriveoutside #hiking #mountainclimbing #optoutside #neverstopexploring

First time climbing outdoors this weekend in maybe 5 months! Although I felt really weak and I'm climbing at a very low level, it was still great to get on some real rock. As a climber and as a thru-hiker, it is always a struggle to get back into climbing after being away on a thru-hike for several months. Also, it was my first time bouldering at Red Rocks, this place is amazing! It's been almost a week since I left the Himalayas. The roughly 120 days I spent there flew by in the blink of an eye but after spending so much time in one place, I grew accustomed to it and the transition back is always difficult. Part of it is processing my experience and missing these beautiful landscapes. Returning from a trip, I always receive the same question: how was it? And it is particularly difficult to put an experience into words - even pictures don't do a place justice sometimes. But to everyone that asks, all I can say is that it is a place you should experience once in your lifetime! #thriveoutside #nepal #himalayas #gearcooper #getolympus #nepal8thwonder #himalayan_high #hikingtheglobe at Himalayas

Happy Birthday to my partner in crime, my best friend, who traveled to the other side of the world to hike through the roof of the world with me. This adventure wouldn't be the same without you @euphoriabum. ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰ at Mt Everest
