Let’s talk about the importance of a hair consultation before a chemical service. Swipe to see the after. When us stylists get you, as a new client, whom we have never met, contacting us and saying “I just want a few simple hilights” and we blindly book you in, both of us are probably in for a world of “OMG, this is more work than I anticipated”. There is a reason why I request you to come meet with me first or to send me off pictures of your current hair, along with inspiration pictures AND a run down of your two year hair history, it’s so I can get a clearer idea of work involved, if it’s truly a simple hilights or if it’s corrective colour. It’s the difference between a “yes I’m getting my hair done today” to “I’m so mad, the stylist I booked with told me they couldn’t do my hair in the time slot and they want me to come back AND they want me to pay more, they can kiss my butt”. Colour is not as simple as many of you think it is and unfortunately if we don’t have all the correct information, you really run the risk of either being turned away or leaving unhappy because you couldn’t get your goal hair like you thought you could. If you took the 15-20 minutes out of your day, to sit down with your stylist of choice so you could both talk and ask questions, then both parties would have the information needed to formulate a plan to either move forward or take a step back and really lower the probability of unexpected surprises and trust me when I say, surprises with hair colour are not usually a good thing! So now that you have your dream hair in mind, please do yourself a favour and book a consultation to see if it’s realistic for you for right now or if it’s going to have to be a forward moving plan instead. These pictures were from a lady who thought she was booking for a simple hilight but after consultation, came to learn it was a corrective process and after thorough conversation, knew what to expect for probable outcome, along with time and cost. As they always say, knowledge is power!
