Been dealing with a shoulder injury for the past 4 months. Today was my first day back to the gym since a month ago. Felt great to get back In there and sweat. I won't let this hold me back. Some good work got done today at @disciplineuntamed Bench was at 145 # Clean (video) was at 235 # Still being careful with everything as I have a tendency to rush things, do too much too soon and then injure myself. All about easing in and taking care of my body first this time. That being said, I just did some rope climb practice instead of the EMOM tonight while @finally_mrshunt got her front squat on. Very sore and didn't need to go the extra mile today. It's only week 3 of the new programming so I'm ok with having a rest when my body tells me too. Today was HIIT training complete with sprinting and plyometrics. I have a hate/love relationship with my HIIT training. I hate it when I first get started, and I love it after I the brutality of the workout starts to set in. I also love “mid-flight” pictures. Thus, the mid-flight pictures.😉 . . Day 13/22 of the #22pushupchallenge #22pushupsfor22days . I was nominated by my amazing teammate @alr8157 to participate in this challenge. I have started doing a variety of push-ups to complete the 22 push-ups per day; this changes things up and avoids constant repetition. Today, I performed a few of the 22 push-ups using narrow arm placement from a decline position. I made sure to touch my nose to the floor while trying to keep my whole body in alignment. Why this challenge? On average, we lose 22 veterans per day to suicide. This challenge serves to raise awareness for that fact. A lot of people are in on the challenge. #transformationtuesday This one is a mental one for me way more than it is physical. Facebook reminded me of this picture from over 8 years ago, and I instantly remembered how I felt at that time...That picture was taken on Thanksgiving day 2009, not long after my 21st birthday. I decided earlier that year that I was going to lose weight as a birthday gift to myself. 🎁 ... Unfortunately, at the time I had no idea about proper nutrition, fueling your body, and real workouts. So I did what I think a lot of us have been through...I spent a lot of time on the treadmill (bored to tears I might add😭) and obsessed over calories, often eating less than 1000 a day.😔 ... So yes, I ended up losing some weight for my birthday, but I felt awful doing it. It was not a healthy weight loss by any means. My birthday hit, and then the holidays, and sure enough I ended up gaining almost all the weight back. I told myself after New Years I would lose it all again, but just couldn’t seem to do it because, hello, starving yourself doesn’t work in the long term!!!🚫 ... Fast forward to now! I weigh more now than I did in that other picture, but I so do NOT care! I no longer obsess over a number on a scale or counting calories. I feel strong and healthy because I do workouts I love and I eat to fuel my body. I’m no longer obsessed with being skinny, I simply want to be the best version of ME. I want to lead by example for my friends and family. I want to show others that fitness and balanced nutrition can be part of your daily life! And yes you can still have lazy Sundays and burgers, I do!🍔🍻 ... I’m looking for 5 more women in January who want to be the best version of YOU. If you’ve felt like I used to feel, have struggled to find a healthy lifestyle that works for you, have tried the treadmill or starvation plan, and want to make 2018 your healthiest year yet, comment below or message me.
