- Presents #PhotoOfTheDay #Photo by Jody MacDonald (@jodymacdonaldphoto) … Happy #worldelephantday! An unseen, unpublished image from my Rajan the elephant story in honor of world elephant day. Elephants are one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet and they are disappearing faster than they are reproducing. Deforestation, encroachment of reserved lands and the illegal ivory trade are all threatening the survival of this amazing species. In one decade alone elephant numbers have declined 62%. We simply have to do something. What you can do today is follow the link in my profile and sign the petition to ban the trade of African Ivory here in the U.S. and help spread the word. I can't imagine living in a world where elephants no longer exist. Follow @nature_org, @nature_africa and @racingextinction to find out more. @natgeocreative @aquatech_imagingsolutions @pelicanproducts @fstopgear #savetheelephants … Use Hashtag: #myipc17 & follow us. This is what aerial support looks like for Wildlife Works' conservation efforts. Since starting our daily aerial patrol program 3 years ago, the number of elephants who die from gunshot wounds has dramatically decreased from an average of 25 per year to just 1. Aerial patrols support all aspects of our conservation efforts. This video captures on camera a chase to catch illegal charcoal burners who cut down trees that are crucial to the elephants' and local wildlife's ability to thrive. African Elephant populations are decreasing at an alarming rate due to ivory poaching and wildlife human habitat conflicts. The current rate of species decline is 8% and growing. If nothing changes, this will mean localized extinction in a few decades and eventually species extinction in our lifetime. There is something you can do: 1. Donate and support our work through link in profile For #WorldElephantDay, our partners at @greatergoodorg are matching your donations for the entire month of August. Your donations financially support our work and give us the vote of confidence to fuel our commitment. 2. Share this post with your friends 3. Follow @elephantprotectiontrust and submit your email through our website to stay in touch Together, we give wild elephants a larger voice to fight for their right to thrive.

@Regrann from @dswt - Nothing makes us happier than a happy elephant — and after 40 years of rescuing and raising them, we've gotten pretty good at spotting one! From crossing their back legs to draping their trunks over their tusks, elephants show their contentment in many ways. Now, you too can crack the code of elephant communication using our new app. Learn how elephants tell their friends that they’re happy and translate a message of your own at: helloinelephant.comwww.helloinelephant.com • • • Photo © David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust #DSWT #worldelephantday #helloinelephant #elephantvoices #iworry #savetheelephants #antipoaching #conservation #worthmorealive @elephantvoices - #regrann

A mother and her calf. At this point it is totally dependent on the mother. I find it intriguing that they are facing opposite directions. One day this will happen and the calf will be gone. Maybe Leaving her mother, and herd for good. Luke 18:18 Jesus lets his Child go, because his quest for an answer will not be quenched by a meaningless religious gesture but rather a conscious choice and decision to give to Jesus who he is. One that costs us everything. total dependence on him. Am also reminded that grace is free but not cheap. @kvckenya #africanamazing #naturephotography #ig_africa #worldelephantday #tembeakenya #animalelite

Nice media - Regram @intrepidtravel Today is @worldelephantday which recognises and celebrates one of the most intelligent and caring species on the planet. According to a recent report by @world_animal_protection around 3 in 4 elephants in captivity in Asia live in unacceptable conditions, which is part of why we no longer ride elephants on our tours. As a traveller, you can take the first step toward ending elephant exploitation by arming yourself with knowledge. Do you know much about the elephant riding industry? #worldelephantday #liveintrepid

Rp from @elephantfamily - To mark #worldelephantday last week, our field partners in India and the Tamil Nadu Forest Department have put together this video on what can happen if you see an elephant in the wild and get too close. Elephants usually mind their own business unless they feel threatened or uncomfortable. Let's respect this magnificent species and always keep a safe distance . . #charitytuesday #elephants #people #wildlife #humanelephantconflict #nature #conservation #asia #india #tamilnadu #fieldpartners #raisingawarenes #elephantfamily
