A very wise man once said, that the definition of insanity was "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." (Albert Einstein) The bulk of mainstream health, wellness and fitness industries have very cleverly perpetuated and marketed this myth to us however. They've wrapped it in new and shiny packaging and tried to sell us the notion that if we continue to do the same thing, hard enough and for long enough we'll eventually start to SEE RESULTS! This however, for the majority of us, is unfortunately not the case. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the entire fitness industry. I absolutely love the way my body feels during and after a work out. My body is stronger, leaner and more toned as a result exercising 3-5 times a week. It's also an amazing mental "time out" for me as well. It is important to keep in mind though, it's just ONE piece of the puzzle! If you really want to: a) make a change in your physical appearance, b) change the way you feel about yourself, and c) change the direction of your future lifestyle and health you'll need to put in the hard yards and yes, I'm talking DIET! 😬😩 Change precedes change... It could be a change in: ✔️ your portion sizes ✔️ timing of your meals ✔️ reduction of your overall calorie intake ✔️ reduction of your daily net carbs ✔️ mindset towards meal timing ✔️ your reliance on snacking throughout the day or, (even better) all of the above! It's Monday tomorrow, why not set yourself one small CHANGE goal and put that into action? Walking into the new week feeling grounded, rested & enthusiastic 🌝 • I try keep my weekends as balanced as possible. My weeks are so busy & I like to feel prepared for them by the end of the weekend. This weekend is typical of how I like to spend weekends. • Yesterday morning started with a gorgeous walk surrounded by the simple beauty of nature. Loved watching all the happy dogs out on their walks There is something so uplifting in seeing all their excitement about being out. 🐕 Kids were all away so I spent the afternoon with some girl friends watching the @nedbankintlpolo. So important to have friend time & chat + laugh about all those silly things we experience on a daily basis. Always makes me remember that so many of us experience the same stuff & sharing & comparing experiences is so cathartic. Sunday’s for me are about family & preparing for the week ahead. Not only do I like to prepare & diarize kids & my school commitments & tasks for the week but I also like to food prep. Food prepping is so important for me. It ensures that I have quick, easy & healthy options in the fridge & freezer that can easily be used. I always avoid ready prepared store bought food & snacks - loaded with salt, sugar & preservatives. Another lovely exercise on a Sunday is to write down a few simple goals/affirmations for the week, ie: I’m going to be kinder to myself, I’m going to feel less guilty, smoothie for breakfast every morning, etc... This afternoon is family time. The weather is so glorious at the moment - I guess it will be spent grilling something delicious & swimming with the kids 💦 • Before I go, isn’t my hair looking strong & healthy? Even if I have to say so myself ☺️😅. I’ve been using @motherkindco for about 6 weeks now & the results are amazing!! • Happy week everyone 💋

Let’s Talk About TENACITY & FAILURE: Over the last week and a half, I’ve been shown so many signs that confirm I’ve finally found my path or “assignment”. As much as I hate hate hate HAAATE the term “Influencer”, I’m called that because it’s the title easiest to describe part of what I do. I try to “influence” for good and help people navigate their way to a better life by being more cognizant about their health & wellness choices. But, my approach is very consciously crafted. I aim to lower the barrier of entry for women trying to make the change. In essence, like a tour guide when someone visits a new city and wants to get a little immersed in the culture to learn new things, but just doesn’t know where to start. I envision and subsequently write and share with the thought of holding that imaginary woman’s hand guiding her to the new experiences. . . But, I didn’t start here. Nope. I started doing what everyone else was doing when it came to content; hair, beauty, hauls. 🤷🏽‍♀️ . . I did it because that’s what I thought would be “successful”. But I was doing it terribly. TERRIBLY!! Eventually, I realized I needed to get to what felt real for me. When my health issues started in 2014, I started sharing MY truth, and the rest is history. Everything changed. . . Point is, don’t be afraid to start because you might fail. Start, fail, readjust, and try again. How else will you learn what you’re terrible or great at? How else will you learn the lessons meant for you? . . Tenacity, truth, and gratitude are the keys. I’m beyond grateful for it all thus far. And super grateful for the support along the ENTIRE way. E R I N * There is so much I want to say about this friend of mine. I had no idea years back that after walking into a class she was teaching that not only would she be a leader to me but would later find a friend for life. She is quiet but mighty. She is incredibly educated on wellness and speaks so eloquently on advocating for ones self. I have never met someone who not only gives her whole self to one person, but constantly guides and inspires me to be a better person every day. Her act of giving to anyone and everyone, amazes me. She has taught me to believe in myself and celebrate my small accomplishments. I used to get down on myself and complain about useless things. Not anymore. I believe now anything is possible if I work hard and push though. I am forever grateful for her leadership, but more importantly I am even more grateful for her friendship beyond the business I am apart of. She is my travel partner as well * This past weekend I had the opportunity to walk on a stage with 33,000 + people watching. She showed up and stood by my side the entire way. Post squat day 🤗 I’m soooore as hell after yesterday’s workout! Swipe right ➡️ to see the activation exercises I did before the squats! Back when I squatted heavy without activating aaalll the muscles used! I would wonder why my glutes weren’t growing and shaping as well as I hoped and worked for! And why my lower back would hurt sometimes after squats. Turns out doing non weighted/resistance band lower body exercises before the actual lifting made all the difference in my progress.. I’m starting my fitness journey as of today, 9 and a half weeks after giving birth. I was given the all clear to train upper body and light lower body weight exercises thanks to pelvic separation 💁🏻‍♀️ On Friday morning I weighed in. This was the first time I’ve weighed myself since March. And, since I’ve always been honest and given full disclosure, that starting weight was 99.5kg. Was I shocked? A little. Am I upset? Absolutely not. Fitness and a healthy lifestyle is always going to be a roller coaster and have its ups and downs. There will always be times where you just can’t exercise and for whatever reason you just can’t eat as healthy as you liked. For me, that was being pregnant - those little rascals would literally make me nauseous at the sight of vegetables 🤮 It’s not about the number on the scales, they’re just to measure progress, it’s about feeling good about yourself and comfortable in your skin, and the most important thing for me now is to set a good example and be a positive role model for my two girls ❤️ Am I going to post about my entire journey? Hell yes I am! If just one person out there gets motivated from me and my story then my job is done. I’ve just finished my first session at the gym and I can already feel how sore I’m going to be. Vegan Mac n’ Cheese. By @foodpassionical . 500 gram macaroni- cook the macaroni according to the package directions.  1 potato 1 carrot - boil the potato & carrot till soft or to the tendency needed, drain out the water and set aside. . Blended ingredients: 6 to 8 tbsp nutritional yeast  300 ml unsweetened soy milk  1/2 tsp garlic powder  1/2 tsp onion powder  1 1/2 tbsp arrowroot powder  1/4 cayenne pepper  1/2 tsp salt  Cooked carrot  Cooked potato  Blend the all ingredients until smooth. Transfer to a medium sauce pan and bring it to a boil. . Reduce to low heat followed by mixing the cooked macaroni and combine it well. . Lastly steam the broccoli with salt and drain out the water.
