Just a couple weeks into a 4 month prep and our first check in. It’s so important to have a long prep for females. Also more and more I think get into it quickly and get as much weight off as you can early. So much you hear of people grinding out the back end of preps because 16 weeks in the body is fighting back. Go hard on the training and cardio first keep cals high and you will most likely get better results than the typical slow tapering plan. With comp prep you can’t really be to far ahead, if you are throw in a diet break. Go hard early have a long prep and get ready sooner !! Wanna know more ? 12 months ago, I was being held back. When wondering through the darkness we can’t always tell if it’s just dark or us being blind... . We won’t see the light until we are ready to receive it... . Sometimes everything may seem perfect, you may feel you have your s #%t together and not realise there’s something in your life preventing the magic from happening. To receive moments of inspiration, opportunities or “luck” we have to be in the right place mentally to allow that flow of energy. I didn’t realise I was fighting into a headwind, I didn’t realise I was baring a weight with me everywhere I went. I thought all was perfect. It was only when that weight had gone, I felt the difference, the lightness, energy and inspiration... . Take a look at your own life and is everything in it aligned to create the life you want? Sleeve busting arm workout 💪🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Reverse E-Z Bar Curl and the Close Grip Bench Press are staples in my programming to help grow my pipes 😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s a common misconception that smaller muscle groups shouldn’t be trained at the same intensity with compound exercises than you would with larger muscle groups. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Every muscle group still responds in the exact same way to mechanical tension whether it’s your biceps or your legs, the ability to grow lies in your ability to provide stimulus that is consistently harder in nature. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Does this mean that you need to add load to the bar each week? Not necessarily. There are a couple of different ways to provide overload 👇🏻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - Simply adding weight to the bar each week - Adding an extra set each week - Adding an extra rep to each set every week - Reducing the relative intensity of the set each week (meaning that the first week you struggled to hit say 10 reps but now you can crush 10 reps) - Or a combination of all of the above ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Simplicity is key. Heavy compound exercises that are progressively overloading in any of the ways mentioned above should be the “meat & potatoes” of any programming, with smaller more isolated exercises adding the finishing touches (much like dessert after dinner) typically with higher reps and lighter loads 😊 at Fitness First Australia
