It’s scorching out there ☀️🔥🔥☀️. 2/3rds of the US 🇺🇸 is experiencing an extreme heat wave this weekend. In NY 🗽it’s expected to feel like 111 degrees🥵. Besides staying in cool, indoor spaces & wearing light clothing, it’s soooooo important to keep H Y D R A T E D!!! .
Although it goes without saying, many still aren’t drinking enough. General rule of thumb is to drink half you body weight in ounces of water a day. But with days like this, MORE is better. Especially in young kids 👶🏼, the elderly 👵🏼👴🏼 and pregnant mamas 🤰🏼🙋🏻♀️ Drinking water not only replaces that lost to sweating, but cools down body temperature. .
Here are some tips if water gets too dull for you: .
. 💦sip on 🍉water, 🥥 water or add a packet of @vegateam hydrator to you water. These are all rich in electrolytes which help to optimize hydration. .
💦 snack on 🍓,🍉,🥝,🍑,🥭,🍍,🥒,🍅. Not only are they high water content fruits, but they are rich in vitamin C, and vitamin C is an important nutrient known to help prevent heat exhaustion .
💦add some sparkle ✨ sparkling water such as @spindriftfresh, @bublywater, @lacroixwater comes in so many different flavours these days and contain no or low sugar. .
💦use frozen watermelon cubes, frozen berries as ice cubes in water. Or juice your favourite fruit, pour into ice cube trays and use as ice cubes. They naturally add infusion to water as they melt .
💦mix it up. Add different herbs and combinations to plain or sparking water, such as muddled 🥒 & mint, 🍓 & basil with squeeze of 🍋 or lime, or 🍊 slices & rosemary. .
💦freeze your fravorite fruit juice or purée into frozen ice pops .
NOTE: Although frosé and iced ☕️ may sound appealing, alcohol and caffeine dehydrate! So you need to drink 2X the water for every one to replenish the deficit.
