UN REVE D’ITALIE - LOUVRE - PARIS
An exhibition that could go unnoticed, "A dream of Italy", the Campana brand's collection at the Louvre, especially if we are more focused on contemporary creations.
Giampiero Campana, a man of taste, inherited from his father and grandfather who were already collectors before him, collected a huge collection between 1830 and 1850. He collected a wide variety of pieces, choosing categories such as glassware and earthenware that were not valued at all by other collectors. There are many stories to tell about the Marquis of Campana, what I remember, the chance to be born in Rome and to be able to go easily to all the archaeological excavations around, to be a precursor in the choice of pieces, to have had the idea before the sale of this collection to make catalogues and inventories by families (sculptures, earthenware, jewellery, coins), to like to transform his villas to stage all these treasures and finally without knowing it to have influenced the art and crafts of the second half of the 19th century. Human jealousy never stops, unfortunately this whole collection had to be sold after the lawsuit for embezzlement brought against Campana, but the Louvre was at the time one of the main buyers. Thanks to the inventory work, the visitor can immerse himself in the stories and admire pieces of rare finesse..... #louvre #unreveditalie #collection #antiques #fineart #collectioncampana #archeology #passion #artcollecting #familystories #discoveringart #showingtheworld #treasurehunter #foryoureyesonly #museum #vivreparis #parismonamour #i❤️paris at Musée du Louvre
