📍The Old Man, Coniston, Lake District, UK —
Coniston Old Man is the 12th highest summit in England at 803m high. It’s climbed by hundred of visitors each year and makes an interesting hike with varying terrain and historic mines dotting the north east face.
There are many routes up but a good circular walk begins at the copper mines at the base of the Coniston Fells branching off towards Grey Crag, Boulder Valley and Levers Reservoir. The steep ascent from the reservoir is a bit tiring but the views make the effort worth it. A descent from the summit, forking north at Crowberry Haws means that you can enjoy a relaxing paddle in Levers Water Beck on the way back down. —
