Welcome to everyone who is new around here, we had a bunch join us this weekend, and I haven't done one of those intro things in a while, so... I'm Serina, the person usually gabbing over here, though I share this space with my husband, Ian.
I'm obsessed with growing food, and Ian is right there with me. The addiction has gotten so bad that we bought a small 2.5 acre farm in the suburbs last summer. We are in the process of developing a small mixed vegetable farm on it.
But more importantly we are killing off all the grass (my favorite) and planting much more exciting things, lol.
Yesterday we took our first big step towards prepping the farm and tilled up the 4000 square foot space that we are going to farm. Goodbye grass. I'd say I'll miss you, but I'd be lying.
This summer we are excited to share our journey of transforming more of our property into a growing space, and sharing all the food that we are able to grow on our land.
For lots of people 2 acres seems tiny, but we were previously on a small city lot, and could grow almost all of our fruits and veggies, so for us, the size of our farm feels like it could feed a large group. And hopefully with time, we can.
We also make YouTube videos where we share more details about growing food and our journey to building our new lives here on Red Roof Family Farm. If you enjoy videos, cone and check us out 😀
Thanks again to everyone for following along with us here. Even though most of you will never come by or buy from our farm, you all makes feel incredibly supported, and like we have a strong community around us. You give us the confidence to make big risks, and the knowledge to let us know how to do it properly. Thanks 😙 at Kelowna, British Columbia
