Ever wondered how the muscle heads are able to look so good, yet be so dumb?? . Or maybe the skinny blond, how she’s so thin but can’t do basic algebra?? . Yes, I know: not all well-built men and skinny girls are stupid. As a matter fact, I would even argue that most are fairly smart . My point is: getting in shape is NOT rocket science and anyone can do it . You don’t need special genes, you don’t need a degree, you don’t need a specific body type . Everything that I’ve learned to achieve my transformation, I can teach it in 8 hrs... that’s it. Not 6 months, not a year, but 8hrs . Does that mean that after 8 hrs you will be completely transformed? Of course not, you still need to apply it consistently for an extended amount of time . But it’s very simple and no pre-requisites are required . And just so you know, if you have a college degree but somehow ever struggled with consistency and motivation when it comes to exercise... you were following a flawed routine . Today’s “workout” was called Balanced. ⚖️ It’s a pretty nice combo of stretching - which I DEFINITELY needed - and some consistent exercises that help me measure my progress. We focused on the balance between pushing yourself to achieve your goals, and taking some down time to reflect on your path. Applies to whatever path we’re talking about, right? It's the weekend + payday for many... which means one thing - EATING OUT!⠀ 🤣⠀ When I first went vegan, I was too scared to eat out for months. 6 years ago, there weren't many options in restaurants and chefs made you feel like a huge pain asking for a custom dish. I was also worried about making a mistake.⠀ 😞⠀ Once I gained confidence, I realised it was much easier than I thought! And in 2019, we are spoilt for choice.⠀ 💚⠀ Are you putting off going vegan because you're worried about social situations?⠀ You shouldn't be!⠀ ⬇️⠀ 1. Most eateries these days have online menus that you can check out beforehand. There are hardly any big chains without a vegan option - you have several options at places like Zizzi, Frankie and Benny's, Subway, Starbucks, and Hungry Horse. If the vegan choices aren't obvious, you may just need to ask for a vegan or allergen menu. ⠀ 🍴⠀ 2. If it's a party or personal event, let the host know in advance. You can give food suggestions, offer to bring a few options and get a good idea of what you can and can't eat. People are far more accommodating than you think!⠀ 🎁⠀ 3. It's a great opportunity to get conversations flowing around veganism. Friends and family will often want to try your food, see how easy it is to eat out as a vegan, and chat about why you're vegan. Veganism becoming 'the norm' really helps to remove the unfair stigma around the lifestyle.⠀ ✊⠀ 4. If going to a restaurant with friends, try to have some involvement in where you eat, so you can choose somewhere suitable for everyone. 🎈🎊 YAY!! 🎉👏 Finally figured out how to get my workout to mirror from my laptop to the tv - no heckling from the more technology-proficient people out there, please ....🤨 The great thing, though, is that I didn’t need a tv monitor 🖥 to work out. I could use my laptop, 💻 or my iPad , or my phone 📱 - and I’ve used them all!! Sometimes I don’t feel like working out on the boat ⛵️, so I’ll use the dock, or a park 🌳, or the gym in our marina. It’s one of the main reasons I started with this program - I travel A LOT so I needed to be able to access the workout wherever we are, or wherever I want to!! And when I know I won’t have cell or internet service?? No biggie - I’m able to download them ahead of time!! Pretty cool, right?? Can’t get that kind of flexibility from a regular gym! 😎

When I went vegan, several people said to me "but won't you miss bacon?"⠀ 🐷🐷⠀ Well actually, I was one of those strange people who never liked it. As a child, I'd always pick every bit of fat off and hated the smell of it cooking. But now I'm vegan, I love the bacon alternatives! Less grease, no cruelty, quicker to cook. Win-win-win!⠀ 🤩🤩⠀ You can buy shop-bought alternatives, but how about making your own? It's super-satisfying and you can season it to your own taste. I make this a lot and pop it on salads, sandwiches, bagels... you get the idea.⠀ 🥪🥓⠀ AND, it's healthy, plant-based, packed with protein, and gluten-free. If you’ve seen my posts, you know that I'm lucky enough to live on a sail boat for 6+ months of the year. ⛵️I'm a long-time runner, but I needed something I could do on the boat. I found this AMAZING online fitness and nutrition group, and I was welcomed to join. I was also invited to be a “coach.” A Coach. Here were my thoughts: ⁉️ What??? 🤡 Are you kidding me?? 😂 What could I possibly offer as a coach? (honestly, even calling myself that word made me giggle a little). 🤷‍♀️ I can barely keep MYSELF on track sometimes – so how could I ever motivate anyone else?? But when I stopped practicing law full time about 3 yrs ago, I promised myself to try new things and get out of my comfort zone. And maybe this coaching thing would keep me working out consistently, and help curb my sugar cravings – ice cream and cookies, anyone?? 🍦🍪 😬 I was NERVOUS about it. I mean, really, I went to school for a LONG TIME, and had no background in fitness or nutrition coaching, so why on EARTH would I think this was a good idea?? But I was watching some other people who were doing it, and I saw the difference it was making in their lives. So I took that little step forward, said “what the heck, and I signed up. At first, I just wanted to pay for my superfood shake every month, and support my seriously INSANE travel addiction! 🌎✈️ I knew I enjoyed being part of a group with similar goals, and helping people, so I thought maybe I could keep a “zero net” effect on the budget. Fast forward to today: I get FAR more than simply paying for my shakes. I am tapped into one of the MOST supportive, kind and encouraging group of people I’ve ever known. ❤️ I have the tools to maintain my health and fitness wherever I am. 💪 And I get PAID to help others get and stay healthy, too!! 💰 How cool is that? 👉You can do this, too. Some of us just do it, like I did at first, to help pay for their shakes. Some use it to pay for kids’ schools, or a weekend away, or other important projects. Still others turn this into a full-time gig – on part-time hours – and replace and EXCEED the income from their "real" jobs! All because they took that first step. You can, too. Join my team!

Why try vegan? ⬇⬇ 1. HEALTH: Many objective studies show that a plant-based diet reduces the risk of heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and stroke. It also cuts your risk of certain types of cancer, such as colon and breast. Processed meat is classed as a carcinogenic. 💊💊 2. THE ANIMALS: Can we justify the suffering and death of animals, when we can live happily and healthily without inflicting it? A high proportion of 'meat' animals never see daylight, and many die in their cramped, unhygienic surroundings before they reach the slaughterhouse. Even humane meat is marketing. Is there a humane way to kill somebody that doesn't want to die? 🐔🐷 3. HUMANS: Veganism isn’t just an animal rights issue, it’s a human rights issue too. Feeding grain to livestock reduces the amount of food that is available to underdeveloped nations. Around 75% of soybeans produced are fed to animals, for example. People go hungry, while that same food they could be eating is given to animals raised for slaughter. Many of these slaughtered animals are then transported to affluent countries such as the UK, for us to eat! 👨‍👨‍👧👨‍👨‍👧 4. THE ENVIRONMENT: Most of us have realised by now that climate change is real and happening as we speak. Raising animals for food uses many more resources than growing plants. 30% of the ice-free surface area of the Earth is used to either rear livestock, or grow the food to feed it. They produce a huge amount of methane (cows alone in excess of 150 billion gallons per day!), and methane is thought to be 25 to 100 times more harmful than CO2. This is all without mentioning pollution, deforestation, land degradation, and water scarcity. 🌿🌿 These are brief explanations, do feel free to conduct your own research or ask questions. Yesterday Tony surprised me with a great news and I'm just so happy that he is home💓 I celebrated with going to Target and getting us a full cart of whole(mostly) foods! 🤓 Did you know..... That human beings are genetically designed to MOVE?? 🏃‍♀️ Researchers from Texas A&M (my alma mater - Gig ‘Em 👍) recently published a study showing that a need and desire to move has been in our DNA for 500,000 years!!! 😮 Right around the time human brains and bodies evolved and became larger, and the spreading savannah required wider foraging for food. How did Learner Vegan materialise?⠀ ⬇⬇⠀ I’ve met wonderfully supportive people along my vegan journey, but also a few judgemental folks that criticise and argue in a non-constructive way. There’s been masses of complex information to understand along the way, on a huge variety of vegan-related topics. Some of it can be a struggle to understand.⠀ Veganism doesn’t have to be as hard as I made it for myself! And that’s really why I wanted to create this site.⠀ 👍👍⠀ Firstly, to create a safe space. Somewhere you can come if you fall off the wagon. No judgement, no criticism. Just a friendly face and support to reach that vegan goal, whatever it may be or however slowly you are working towards it.⠀ Secondly, to help people who were like me 6 years ago. People with no clue about veganism, perhaps even with pre-conceptions and doubts about the whole lifestyle. 🌻Good morning, friends. I’m still in bed and I’m not even mad about it. 😉 Sunday night (or should I say Monday EARLY morning) when Larkin wasn’t feeling well, kinda kicked my butt. I can really tell a difference in my gut when I’m not drinking my 16oz of celery juice everyday. You should try it!! For me the best thing I love about this business is the fact you can work from anywhere. Aslong as you have your phone. Meaning you can travel and go holidays whenever and wherever you want 💙✈🌏No big boss to tell you NO!! Barley bowl with potato mojos! For the barley bowl: Barley Coconut milk Mixed veggies (green peas, corn, carrots) Your favorite spices (oregano, thyme, salt and pepper) Garlic cloves For the mojos: Potato Little bit of oil Garlic broth with your fav spices (salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme) Dip (pasta sauce and mustard) I cooked the barley like how i cook rice, added in some garlic cloves. When it was already soft and fully cooked, I set aside some of the water from it (garlic broth) for my mojos. Put some coconut milk, later on mixed veggies and your fav spices. Follow your guts, you can do this better! 😉 The mojos were just cooked in a very, very little oil on it, on a non stick pan and was made tasteful by marinating. I also used my left over pasta sauce from Hunts, mixed it with mustard for the dip. I think it would be just fine, even without the dip.
