COMPOUND vs ISOLATION💪🏻🏋🏻‍♂️. - Exercise selection is key to making an effective training program, it can literally make or break it. If you aren't choosing the correct exercises, you are going to have a hard time reaching your goals and seeing progress🙅🏻‍♂️. - Often times, beginners think that the more exercises they can do, the better. After all, hitting a muscle from every angle imaginable must mean you are training it in the best possible manner right? Wrong🤦🏻‍♂️. - Isolated exercises can allow direct tension on a single target muscle. This is beneficial in the case of selectively targeting muscles, or weaker muscles in order to improve symmetry, leading to not only growth of the target muscle but greater functional strength🤓. - They also allow you to train the muscle through its full range of motion to a maximum degree so you can really focus your attention on a single muscle at a time, leading to better target muscle development🙌🏻. - BUT isolated exercises simply won't give you the most bang for your buck because they just don't target that many muscle fibres. Take a bench press vs tricep push down. The bench press is going to work your pecs, your triceps, and your delts, with your biceps acting as a stabiliser🤙🏻. - Not only will compound exercises target the greatest portion of muscle fibers, they will also cause the greatest release of anabolic hormones in the body. The two prime examples are testosterone and growth hormone💁🏻‍♂️ - Single body part programs are notorious for encouraging overtraining. If you think about it... say you are doing a chest workout one day and then doing an arm workout the next. Since you already worked your triceps during your chest workout, chances are they aren't going to be completely recovered in time for your arm workout, unless you have properly managed your weekly volume or programmed enough recovery time in between🤕 - I’d recommend starting with your main compound movements FIRST. Accessory movements next to help further strengthen movement patterns which assist with the main compounds and then FINISHING with isolation exercises to work on smaller muscle groups which may require more volume for grow👌🏻

Giving @julietcrouch the bicep workout of her life this evening 🤩 _ 112.5kg for 7 very good, controlled reps on incline bench press. This was my third set and a decent example of making your last rep as good your first 🤙🏽 _ Second chest focussed push session back following my deload and the weight is back to what it was pre-deload.. with better form. Now to push on, I want that 120kg incline press in the next 4 weeks 🤨

A FEW HOME TRUTHS ABOUT FAT LOSS‼️ The things your NOT very often made aware of from the get go 👀👀.. . 👉🏽 IT WILL TAKE TIME. To truly change your body, habits, lifestyle etc will take a while! 9/10 you’ll get frustrated that things aren’t moving as fast as you like! 🙈 don’t get disheartened or give up when you haven’t completely transformed in a couple of weeks 🙅🏽‍♀️ be prepared to give it time! 👉🏽 IT ISNT LINEAR. Some weeks you’ll lose 1lb, others you’ll lose 2.5, some weeks you’ll lose nothing, others you may gain 0.5lb! 🤷🏽‍♀️ again - don’t be disheartened! Aslong as the OVERALL trend is going in the right direction then your fine 🤗 👉🏽 YOU WILL FALL OFF SOMETIMES. Your human. Give yourself a break.. Everybody has days/weeks where they fall off their game, so don’t beat yourself up about it, just get right back to it! 💪🏽 👉🏽 THE QUICKER YOU LOSE THE FAT, THE QUICKER YOU’LL GAIN IT BACK.. In most cases! Quick 6-8 week shreds do have their place/purpose and can be very effective, if that’s the goal. But if your goal is long lasting results, that you can maintain pretty effortlessly as part of your lifestyle.. Then slow and sustainable is probably your path to take my friend 🤓 👉🏽 YOU DO HAVE TO MAKE SACRIFICES. You may see someone promising to get you results whilst maintaining the lifestyle that you have now.. Which is true is some respects, but also bullshit in others💩 if you want to see changes then you have to make some 💁🏽‍♀️ you WILL have to make some sacrifices somewhere down the line. 👉🏽 YOU CANNOT CHEAT YOURSELF. You’ll get the results that you’ve worked for. The results you’ve stayed consistent for. Nothing more, nothing less 🙃 . To really change your body, develop habits and make it a lifestyle, takes time ⏰ it won’t happen in a linear fashion 📈 you will screw up sometimes 🙈 but learning how to manage this, how to incorporate your goals into your lifestyle and learning how to find a sustainable balance between the two, will be so worth it in the end! 💯 DONT GIVE UP BEFORE YOU’VE EVEN REALLY GOT STARTED! .

Day One ✅ . . Never understood when I read about people struggling with off season. Even though I didn’t compete or cut last year, being pretty lean for the last few months of the year for holiday and working hard then being so relaxed with food, absolutely zero cardio and just focusing on being strong and lifted heavy. Although my strength has rocketed in comparison to 6 months ago my self body imagine is terrible, feeling soft and fluffy and full is not enjoyable for me. Even when people tell you how good you look you just don’t see it yourself. I understand it’s all part and parcel with “bulking to cutting” but it has taken its toll massively on my own self confidence being in my own skin. Time to slowly start chipping away and building a substantial physique. Seeing my own confidence drop has given me the biggest kick up the backside to sort it out. So much fire in my belly to be better than I ever have been. 😏 The main thing I want isn’t to hit the right numbers on the scale or to see abs, but to purely feel comfortable in my own skin again! Without trying to sound like Captain Obvious here, but everyone is born with their own unique Genetic Make-Up, which pre-determines certain characteristics of your physique and performance. Such as👇 . 👉🏻 Muscle Fibre Type Ratio 👉🏻 Potential Height 👉🏻 Muscle Mass Density 👉🏻 Bone Structure 👉🏻 Limb / Lever Length . Our genetics will determine how the above things are going to shape our body, and vary from person-to-person, gender-to-gender, race-to-race and so on. Now, here’s the things.. . Our Genetics all have Strengths and Weaknesses. For example, I inherited Broad Shoulders from my Dad, and some half-decent Calves from my Mum. However, I drew the short straw when it came to pre-disposed Abs and Arms Genetics! It’s the EXACT same case for you and others alike. . So yes, you’re born with potential which compliments your physique / performance, and features which are a bit shit. HOWEVER, I hate to break it to you - it’s still not a valid excuse to hide the fact you’re simply not doing the right thing🤷🏻‍♂️ . Fact is, if you apply the correct elements of Muscle Gain: . ➡️ Enough Total Volume to force an adaptation ➡️ FULL Range of Motion ➡️ Progressive Overload ➡️ Exercise Selection relative to your Anatomy ➡️ Sufficient Protein and Calorie Surplus . ... Then a muscle will grow, it’s that simple. If it isn’t, you’re just doing one or more of the above things wrong🤷🏻‍♂️ . There are SO many ways to measure your progress, whatever your goals are.
