Went on another @ltmuseum #hiddenlondon tour today - this time of the TfL headquarters. I walk past this building most days as I work round the corner, but it was great to get inside and on the roof while learning more about its history.
So much of the original design and details are still present, with upgrades in the 80s not ruining it. It’s grade 1 listed now so pleased that a building I love cannot be demolished like so many buildings I love have or are due to be.
Funny to think of this 14 storey as a skyscraper but it was London’s first skyscraper when it was built just before WW2. Fortunately as there’s not too many tall buildings nearby, the views from the top are pretty impressive - and we had a good day for it with bright blue skies.
Well worth getting on a future tour if you can - especially if you’re a London transport geek like me. 📷 Photographed 17 February 2019
