Dear trans kids,
You are the strooooongest! ❤️
I know you’re often busy looking for older trans folks to look up to, to see what is possible, to see the evidence that you too can live - that’s so valid and the answer is yes, you can live - but the truth is you’re such an inspiration too.
You’re valuable. You’re important. You’re real - right now.
You’re advocating for yourself before you’ve even had the opportunity to see and experience so much of the world.
You’re embracing the body you need while learning for the first time what it evens means to have a body in the first place.
You’re navigating a life with so many eyes on you - teachers, classmates, coaches, crushes, BFFs, and bullies - and you’re choosing you through it all.
You’re negotiating dependency on other people (parents, family members, friends) so that you not only have a roof over your head, but so that you have adults who help you access what you need to more outwardly become who you know in your heart.
You’re asking yourself big questions about puberty, and hormones, and surgeries, and bathrooms, and lockers rooms, and clothes, and friends, and trust, and names, and how, and when, and where, and how long.
You’re allowed to be scared.
You’re allowed to go at your own pace.
You’re allowed to stand up for yourself.
You’re allowed to stay quiet.
You’re allowed to hesitate.
You’re allowed to question yourself.
You’re allowed to experiment.
You’re allowed to trust yourself.
You’re allowed to not have to explain yourself.
You’re allowed to be excited, and afraid, and happy, and sad, and proud, and terrified - all. at. once.
Being you in the face of all of your fears and contradictions is what makes you so brave.
Being you is what makes you the inspiration that you are.
I love you, and I am so very proud of you, and I am here for you. This Gender Euphoria Friday is for you. ❤️❤️
Your friend, your sibling, your uncle, your dad, your trans relative, your forever cheerleader
