WARNING! LONG POST 😝 Where does one start 🎉😂 It has taken me quite some time to stop worrying about what i look like & to stop comparing myself to everyone else ... but i’m finally there (i think 💭 🤣) i am 58, i am off season, i am trialing new HRT meds ... i want to improve my physique and step back on stage in 2020 ... so i need to grow 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 no more procrastinating about using creatine (afraid of weight gain 🤦🏻‍♀️), in fact i currently don’t give a #*^! about my weight on the scales or how i look 👀... my hormones are all over the shop, but that is no longer going to be an excuse to just bloody well get on with it 👊🏼 right now it is go time to grow time, and working with my wonderful coach we have the time & the plan to build & develop the weak points in my physique... currently training 2.5 days lower & upper, with a big focus atm on shoulders, quads & glutes! really loving this & today taking inspiration to push harder from videos of my coach & team mates training ... it was time for me to step it up, coach in my ear throughout .. although now watching back the lateral raises ... there was a few more reps i could of pushed for 🤦🏻‍♀️ #bodybuilding #naturalbodybuilding #offseason #gotimetogrowtime #chasingdemgains #bootygoals🍑 #strengthandconditioning #nevertooold #beunstoppable #bethebestversionofyou #trainharder #trainsmarter #bkconditioning #2020 #figuregirl 👊🏼

🏊‍♂️ 🚴🏻 🏃🏻 Today was an experience for a lifetime. Ironman 70.3 Syracuse is a tough course full of long ups and short downs. The course and the heat definitely humbled me. It took me longer then I expected to finish, a bit over 8 hours, but I felt good and strong under the finish arch. . An extra special thank you to my amazing wife, cheerleader and cheer squad captain @sarahbethmk. I couldn’t have gotten to the finish with out her. Thanks also to @beningber, @amph1b1an, my mom and dad for being out there all day for me. Plus a shout-out to my dad to sharing Father’s Day with my race day. Personally believe that if you want to maximize glute development, you need to add some type of hip thrust to your program. As opposed to vertical axial loaded movements (like the squat) the hip thirst will provide a horizontally loaded movement to help in maximal glute development. Just a simple 3x10 Barbell Hip thrust shown with a 2 second hold at the top of the movement. Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) is an approach which utilizes functionally based movement patterns with techniques of neuromuscular facilitation. The purpose of PNF is to evoke motor responses and improve neuromuscular control and function 🤓. . Now, let's use this method with training #Unilateral stability for the #GlobalStabilizationSystem🤔. . Muscles of global stabilization system attach from pelvis to the spine. These transfer loads between upper extremity and lower extremity, provide stability between pelvis and spine, and provide stabilization and eccentric control of the core during functional movements. Primary muscles that make up global stabilization system include (QL) quadratus lumborum, psoas major, external obliques, portions of the internal oblique, rectus abdominis, gluteus medius, and adductor complex. Training movement system muscles before training muscles of global and local stabilization systems would not make sense from structural and biomechanical standpoint. If you’ve been doing cable crunches scratch that and use bands. Holy crap it’s a different ball game. This is one more variation I learned from @zachhomol that wrecks your core. When you use bands the hardest part of the movement is at the peak of the concentric portion. In other words, it gets harder as you crunch. Try these out. Wrists and Riding 🤷🏻‍♀️ ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ Do you “break your wrists” when you ride? ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ There are 3 reasons why you might do this 1. You don’t care enough to pay attention and your reins are too long (those two could go hand in hand) 2. You don’t actually understand how to hold your hands in the correct position 3. You’re upper body isn’t strong. Not your wrists. This is an issue I see a lot. In fact I had really bad wrists simply because I was being lazy and I now have tendinitis In them (yup, true story 🤷🏻‍♀️). This topic came up because Alexa Aureliano wanted to know how she could stop her wrists from breaking when she wanted to collect her horse if he is too strong. This isn’t actually a wrist problem, it’s an upper body strength problem. To fix this, she is going to strict press and deadlift. She will not do a million silly exercises that look like they might give you stronger wrists ☝🏻. I want the whole system (aka the body) loaded just as it is when she is maneuvering her horse. She isn’t just using the wrist, she’s using her whole body. I’m not addressing her legs in this issue because I know they’re very strong and she is already on a strong squat program. She will focus a lot on her strict press, keeping her wrists straight. Many people don’t understand the concept of keeping them straight which why this would also help with issue #2...we put a lot of focus on it. The deadlift is by far the best back strengthening exercise and the more weight she can pull, the more she can handle when her horse is strong. Hence, barbell training is the best for strength in all aspects of the sport! If you are unfamiliar with saccadic eye movements, they are an incredibly useful assessment and training tool in the neurocentric model. Saccades are nothing more than rapid movements of the eyes between different points of fixation, but they require a tremendous amount of brain activity to ensure accuracy. _____________ This illustration from Dr. Rahul Kumar shows some of the brain areas involved in saccadic control and indicates that saccades can have a training effect on the frontal lobe, basal nuclei, parietal lobe, mesencephalon, pons and cerebellum.
