There are numerous ways out there to track food, the best one is the one you are consistent at. • I personally use Myfitnesspal because it is simple to use and fits my lifestyle without feeling like a huge interruption. However, this may not work for you. Below are various ideas I use with my clients. • Successful Food Logging: • -Log your food for the next day before going to bed. Treat this as a rough draft for the food you are going to eat the following day. This is my favorite method and even more successful if you food prep. • -Log your food as you go, I recommend setting a timers in your phone to remind you to log your food. Ex: you eat lunch at 12, consider setting an alarm for 12:30-1 to log your food. • -Create a photo gallery to log each meal. Visually seeing what you ate is a great reflection tool. • -Get you emotions involved. Orientation > Activity ——————————————————— If you are performing the activity in the first video but haven’t mastered the one in the second, you’re probably not actually moving in the transverse plane. Planer mechanics are dependent on the orientation of your thorax (ribs) relative to you pelvis (hips), and your pelvis relative to your femurs (leg bones). Control the split squat through the rotation of your femur within your acetabulum (hip socket) to access your frontal and transverse planes, move the thorax across the midline to access your transverse mechanics. Simply moving in a direction does not insure your moving in the correct respective plane, it just means you’re facing in a different direction. As a coach I am always learning and implementing new information I find compelling to give my athlete's the best results. Been sick as hell last few days and haven't eaten worth a damn either.... all that being said I did what I find in me tonight for back day!! Started off with the #NebulaTbar row (heaviest tbar on the planet) for 6or 7sets 25 - 6 reps. What should you be looking for in the squat? 🤔 _______________________________________________ The squat is a compound movement that involves numerous joints and lots of muscle engagement. Part of what makes it so great and challenging for some. It can require a lot of proprioceptive awareness as well but DAMN does it feel good to move some weight. It has many variations and depending on your goal can be addressed many different ways. Below are 5 focal points to practice if you’re not very experienced with this movement. _______________________________________________ You want to focus on: 1) Weight to be evenly distributed between your feet, front to back. Kept primarily in the center. 2) Break at the hips and knees before gradually lowering your descent. 3) Maintain control through the entirety of the movement. 4) Only go as low as YOUR mechanics allow. I’d focus on keeping a flat back, stop before it rounds. 5) Drive up forcefully while maintaining your knees in alignment with your toes. _______________________________________________ There are so many more things that can be talked about the squat and it’s variations but if this is new to you and you focus on the five points mentioned above you should be able to get yourself started and moving in the right direction. _______________________________________________ Would love to know if this is a movement that has challenged you in the past or if you avoid it due to previous injury? It’s not that I have an abundance of time or will power. It’s that I found a system that works for me. Being healthy and in shape is important to me. After having kids I had to figure out a different way to keep up with it. There was some trial and error but 3 years ago I finally found something that worked...really well. So - of course I’ve stuck with it! These days my workouts are 30ish min long, 4 days a week. My nutrition feels relaxed even though it’s healthy and providing me lasting results. I don’t stress on it. It’s just part of my life...because it’s convenient. I’m really learning now that I’m here in a freezing cold environment just how little I would like to get everyone into the car in order to hit the gym! I wanted to take a moment to give some WELL DESERVED praise and acknowledgement to this woman here. This is Mo. About 3 and ½ months ago she made the decision to begin working with me after undergoing lower back surgery to help alleviate pain and radiating leg symptoms coming from an injury to one of her lumbar discs. On her first day, she was extremely cautious and nervous about even bending forward at the waist, let alone beginning to participate in any resistance training. Prior to surgery, bending forward or lifting a heavy object often would flare up her back pain causing her to avoid certain activities or movements. . Today, now 5 months after surgery, here she is not ONLY bending forward with more confidence but DEADLIFTING 35lbs. Now, things are not perfect. We are still working to perfect her technique and developing confidence with this movement but she is 🔥KILLING IT🔥! She has made so much progress in the last few months in developing strength, bodily awareness, and confidence with movement that a shout out for her was needed. . Through hardship is where true character will surface ! - - My back has completely thrown me out of training the last 10 days and needless to say it couldn’t be at a worse time training was the one of the main outlets where I could exert all of my emotion and energy into as other areas of my life aren’t great right now and I was 2 weeks into working with a coach !- - Goes to show how having something you are truly passionate about that you can dedicate time too can help eradicate any excess stress or bad energy and I find it helps me battle my own demons and right now all I wanna do is lift some heavy ass weight but I can’t do it’s time to re build and work back to where we were before! - - In times like this all you can do is carry on showing up and doing the necessary to get back to where you need and want to Be ! - - Count your blessings ❤️

The accommodating resistance (reverse bands) makes a world of difference, especially when you don't have a training partner to push you through a few extra reps. Ideally I'd still do these with a barbell, but I'm not gonna be a dick and take the only power rack to bench 255 lol. I can take these sets a lot farther away.
