Less than 12 weeks out.
As I start to dial in prep for my first marathon in May at the BMO, I keep holding back from wanting to set a time goal as this is my first marathon. Uncharted territory for this guy.
However, in my previous races, I have done my best when I work towards a goal time as it’s motivating. However I don’t want to set expectations on something I’m totally new too.
So I’ve come to a decision for myself. I’m going to charge into the unknown with a training plan to get me sub 3:30 in the BMO. Boom. Putting it out there, if I achieve it, I’ll be a happy camper and eat some dark chocolate to celebrate. If I don’t hit it, I’ll do the exact same thing.
To my fellow runners, what are your race preparations like? I would love to hear how others prep both physically and mentally for such a long run/race.
