today marks one month since we graduated from the NICU, and have been home with sweet Colin Tate!
it's an experience I never wish on anyone, your baby getting whisked away right after birth, looking at him through a plastic barrier, hardly being able to see him because of all the things hooked onto his tiny little body, watching the vital monitor constantly to make sure he's ok, only being able to hold him for so long and with so many wires attached, but I was put at ease by all the NICU nurses and doctors, I had complete faith and trust in them.
I remember the first time holding him right before heading home, he had come back to our hospital room from the NICU for his final assessment, and it was only him, no monitor, no wires, for the very first time, and I said "you're a real boy!" and started singing, "I've got no strings attached to me..." it was finally real, he was all mine :)
we were very lucky to have just a short time there, 16 days, but the not knowing of what the next day will bring, it seems like an eternity, but I am certain the nurturing and loving people who took care of him helped his condition accelerate in strides.
Colin is now about 8lbs, gaining extra chubs of fat every day, and is just as sweet as can be!
thank you to my dear friend @bnstoller for sending colin these onesies, you are a gem, full of love, compassion, and grace, thank you thank you xoxo #nicugraduate #thankyournurses #colintate #sweetbabyboy #homesweethome #preemiebaby #33weeks5days #thisbeautifullife #grateful #family #love #babystyle #instababy #instastyle #instalike #babyboy at Paducah, Kentucky
