“Yes!” “Amen!” “Preach!” Allllll the yasssss! Self-Care looks different for everyone and different one day to the next. Some days self-care looks like meditation, working out, and a bubble bath. Some days it’s a plate of greens and reds and yellows. Today, self-care for me is resting, recharging, and doing nothing at all. Today it’s making peace with the idea that I don’t have to ALWAYS be making moves and checking things off of my to-do list. It’s giving myself permission to be a little more human and a little less machine, permission to just be still. .
Be still, and know. Psalm 46:10 has always been one of my favorite verses and today, I’m doing just that. .
Working in a field of servanthood, we give ourselves all day long to others. Then we go home and give everything all over again to our families and our side hustles and try to find some scraps for ourselves. Y’all, I’m EXHAUSTED at the end of the day. By the time Friday rolls around, I’m running on fumes. If I continue to pour and pour and pour into others, eventually my cup can’t runneth over anymore, my friends. That thing is BONE dry! Today, I’m refilling it and pouring into myself. .
What’re you doing today to take care of YOU? What’re you doing to refill your cup? .
