Tonight is the Super Snow Moon in Virgo ♍️ 🌕 It's called a super moon because the moon’s orbit is closer to the earth and it will be the largest and brightest of the year. It is also the second of three super moons this year. Native Americans called it a snow moon as it used to be the time of the most snowfall - not as applicable here in the Southern Hemisphere where we are still sweltering! Energetically what does this mean? Virgo energy is super organised, so you may find yourself extra agitated when things aren't organised or going to plan. Remember one of your most sacred tools that you have at your disposal in any moment, breath, and come back to it if you find yourself triggered. You may find shadow and fear bubbling to the surface, the moon is bringing these up so that you can shine a light on them, acknowledge them and in that acknowledgement work towards defusing them. Like all full moons it's a great time to let go of what is no longer serving you, so make a list, have gratitude for the lessons and let it go. On your belly, take your feet about double the width of your shoulders, tuck the toes under and push through the heels and lock your knees out straight. Interlace your fingers behind your back and try to pull the palms together with straight arms so that the chest opens and your shoulder blades squeeze toward each other. . Exhale as you lift your upper body, reaching the arms back toward feet and off bum. Inhale down, exhale up x 8 – 10. Hold the last one and keeping your chest level, exhale to the right, inhale toward the middle and exhale to the left, keeping both hips down and level. Use cedarwood to quiet your mental chatter and give clarity while providing a calm and relaxed meditation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Frankincense enhances your spiritual connection during meditation. This oil is one to use if you have a specific purpose for your meditation. A relaxing oil that provides grounding and balancing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Run your diffuser while you meditate or dilute with a carrier oil to apply topically. Variations/adaptations of pigeon pose . For many people, this pose can be difficult due to tight hips &/or knee issues. Here are 4 options to try to make this pose more accessible and comfortable. It’s also great to play around with the use of props to experience the pose in different ways. Although I have a lot of mobility in my hips & can do the full pose with ease, I find that working with support and props allows me to access different parts of the body. Just thought I’d put a face to the name of this Insta takeover! I’m not a selfie taker so this will likely be the one and only ha ha I have had a beautiful morning here in the Bay. I’m super grateful to have found a wonderful home to move into and to have met some beautiful people already. During the process of planning to move to the Bay, I have been learning that my brain is a problem solver, with a problem for every solution… it would like to send me off on thought loops, examining possible ways situations could turn out, creating anxiety around them and basically wasting time and energy on things that don’t usually come to pass (anyone relate here?). Lately, I have found the space from that noise and surrendered to the flow of life and everything is unfolding much more easefully. I used to worry about the small stuff… a lot. I would grasp on to things, unable to relax and trust – needing to control outcomes (the Virgo is strong in me 🙄). However, the more I have learnt to relax, trust and not go down those pathways the easier things are becoming… the more I am becoming, the more I am able to be present in each moment and just be. I invite you today, if you find yourself heading off on one your brain’s little tangents, to come back to your breath, take a couple deep nourishing ones and let go… just a little and see how much space it can create for you to return to flow. 30 day #zenkiyoga CHALLENGE. Day 21 Bladder meridian stretch/nervous system . On your back, pull knees to chest and then bring your heels about your chest (lining up chest, knees and heels). Hold over the toes onto the padding of the feet so your toes are soft in your palm. Don’t grab at the actual toes as this will make the bottom of your foot rigid. Soft toes = soft feet and the back of your legs will soften and relax faster even though initially you have to bend your knees more. Keeping your heels above your chest try to push your tailbone down and then try to extend your legs out straight. It’s more important to keep your heels above your chest than anything else, then it’s more important for your bum to be down than your legs be straight. Today I have been thinking about the importance of tribe… We become the sum total of the five people that we spend the most time with, so surrounding yourself with people who build you up, challenge you to grow and aren’t afraid to call you on your shit, is so damn important. I have had moments in life where I have looked around me and realised that the tribe I was with weren’t serving my higher good and I have had to accept that sometimes people aren’t meant to stay in our lives… yet everyone we encounter has something to teach us, whether they show us our shadow or bask us in light. There is always the opportunity to grow and to learn from others. Yoga has given me such a beautiful tribe of people and I’m in so much gratitude for its impact on my life.
