Straight, fine, curly, thick, afro, coloured, short, frizzy, dry, greasy, split, damaged or just…WILD.
Whatever your hair is like right now there are some wonderful oils and butters that will make it even better looking or help alleviate the problems you may be having with it.
Applying oils to the hair is common practice in many parts of the world but here in Northern Europe we are a bit reluctant to smother our hair in oils fearing the greasy factor. However, there are some great oils (and I’m not talking about coconut oil) that will greatly nourish and improve the quality of the hair.
I’ve used oil-based products in my hair for years and I find them to be great in defining my curls, reducing frizz and keeping the hair shiny and healthy looking.
Unless you are lucky enough to have thick curly hair I would stay away from the heavier oils like coconut oil, shea butter, Olive oil, Castor oil and instead go for much lighter oils like jojoba oil, safflower oil, hemp seed oil and if you want a truly luxurious (albeit more pricey) oil for the hair then try Baobab oil.
A little goes a long way and I find that oils are best applied to slightly damp hair to help lock in the moisture.
If you prefer the benefits and properties of several oils combined in one product then check out our own hair products: Hemp & Argan Nourishing Hair Oil’ and ‘Hemp & Babassu Hair & Beard Balm’ which include all the above mentioned oils.
