There are other ways to make things harder than adding weight or impact. At #FitBodyAurora, we run by this principle and train in this order.
1) Work on form first!
2) Increase range of motion
3) Add intensity, weight, or tempo
But there is always a way to go too far. In this video, you will see where I had to reduce a members range of motion. So she could get more out of the exercise without potentially encouraging an overuse injury.
At first, I had asked her to decrease the intensity and increase range of motion. But then I had to limit her range of motion, so she wasn't bouncing off her joint capsules, which makes the exercise safer and harder at the same time.
