Fall’s a scrumptious time to hike WA 🍁🍂
This colorful photo was taken last year as my daughter and I hail-tied ourselves to the parking on #stuartlake after spending a dangerously long time at #colchucklake. We didn’t quite make it out before #sunset but all was good!
I’ve hiked, backpacked, and cycled all over #washingtonstate and #colchuck is hands down my favorite Wilderness Lake that most moderately fit person’s should be able to enjoy; and therefore, it’s a must for any of my visiting #hiker friends. It’s located just outside of #leavenworthwa in what’s known as #theenchantments. It’s in the #alpinelakeswilderness and the last stop before #aasgardpass, the BIG CLIMB into the inner core of the #upperenchantments. There’s several ways to enjoy the enchantments but unless you win one of the few overnight permits for the Upper Enchantments, it’s an 18-mile thru-hike. SO unless you’re a 💪🏻 hiker, and have #scrambling experience, I wouldn’t recommend it. Shoot for a day trip to Stuart Lake or Colchuck, it’s totally worth it! .
If you do plan to thru-hike during months with snow, be super careful. People die every year walking or #glissading across #snowfields only to fall through to the rushing waters beneath. So unless you’re highly experienced, don’t #glissade no matter how tempting it looks to be 😱🙏🏻👌🏻 .
