Long tailed macaques aren't my favourite animals. They can be aggressive toward people, especially if you happen to be holding plastic bags (please dont bring plastic bags into nature reserves and parks, you're asking to get mauled). Sometimes they just sit on a railing, a little too close for comfort, their eyes on my backpack, probing for any signs of food. In those cases I usually just hastily walk past.
But being so close to us humans in the tree of life, we are easily drawn to their anthropomorphic appearances. If you take the time to look past their demeanor, you might catch a glint of something human in their eyes. at Upper Peirce Reservoir
