Some interest things have been happening around here. One of our girls has it all figured out...she’s been laying every day in her nesting box, for almost a week now. Her eggs have been small, but similar in size; and although I haven’t caught anyone in the act, I’m fairly certain that the eggs have all come from the same hen.
Then yesterday I almost stepped on an egg that had been left in the run. It was frozen and clearly had been from the night before. So last evening I made a trip out to the coop after dark, and found the biggest chicken egg I’ve ever seen in person lying in the same spot I had found the frozen one 12 hours prior.
Needless to say I bolted out at the crack of dawn to see what had been left for me this morning. Much to my surprise, I found the smallest chicken egg that I’ve ever seen in person. 😂 Not only is it tiny, it’s speckled. Which just makes it even cuter. It too was on the ground, and presumably frozen, but it was closer to the coop than yesterday’s, so she’s making progress. at Mount Joy, Pennsylvania
