Sometimes when we shrug a lot and wing our scapulas our Serratus Anterior gets stretched out and can cause some pain and discomfort deep in the back by the shoulder blade. - - Let's turn these muscles back on by doing some scapular pushups and a variation of them to help keep the scapula in place as well as gliding instead of winging! - - First exercise + variation you can incoperate into your warmup or movement prep when you work out. Do 10 reps of each with 1-3 sets as you need (I usually just do the 1). - - Second exercise remember to keep palms on the wall, this will help to mobilize your spine but also help with scapular stability. Again do 10 reps with 1-3 sets (I prefer to do 2 with another exercise). - - Last exercise is making snow angels. Same set/rep rule. Remember to keep your shoulders neutral and to squeeze that core and those glutes to help stabilize. No leaning back and do thumbs up (out at the bottom) for the entire movement. The serratus will assist with some medial rotation but primarily will help stabilize the scapula with other muscles. - - Happy shoulders everyone!!! In all seriousness, a lot of people are losers. when you were younger your parents probably told you not to show off, they were right... but unfortunately that gets tied in to even giving your best in case you make others feel bad. Who are the losers I’m talking about, people that never try, who complain, who winge and try to bring others down instead of rising and challenging them. Even if I know someone is better, I don’t complain, i may not feel great but I’ll do what I can to be the best me. That’s how you improve yourself without hurting others. . When I used to see people doing better than me and recording it I used to think they’re just showing off... maybe some people are, but when you realise that you can be great as well if you’re not already then other people’s accomplishment become an inspiration. . Happy #flexfriday, fit crew! Checking in here with some pics from this evening, a couple deadlift videos from this past Sunday, a couple squat videos from yesterday morning, and a couple deadlift videos from this morning. It's been a good week overall! Training and work has been going well. - - Sunday's deadlifts were 3 sets of 5 reps - 2 sets conventional with 575 lbs and 1 set sumo with 620 lbs. Yesterday's squats and today's deadlift were with 4 sets of 9 reps - 2 sets SSB with 415 lbs and 2 sets high bar with 390 lbs. 2 sets conventional with 525 lbs and 2 sets sumo with 575 lbs. Upgrade your Chest Press! . . Here's the partner exercise of last video's Uni Lat Pull. This shows the slings on the front of our body (Anterior Oblique Sling) which connects one pec muscle (chest) diagonally through the obliques to your inner thigh (adductor). If you think about walking, running, throwing (an object or a punch), one pec muscle acts at a time. Tuck your shoulder-blades together, then push against the floor while making your arms as long as possible. Soon you will make it happen because you want it more and more day by day. That is the feeling I have in my self, and I had that feeling in between 2013 and 2014. Those years was the years of experience of how to create melodies. And in between those years I created my best melodies. After that I bought a good computer so I could focus on giving the music more quality sound rather than thinking about melodies. And I'm feeling that I'm reaching the best quality in bass and kick compared to 2013-2014. And I got to say even if I know how to turn knobs to reach the sounds I want, it's never the same way for every track I make. So it's impossible to say this is the way of how to mix and make music. Singer, melody and song text is just a very small % in what music producing is about when it comes to becoming professional. If the mix is to muddy everyone will hear it. And if the structure is wrong the ones who listen to it the first time might hear it, but the one that produce it might not hear it because of worn ears of listening to it over and over again. Muddiness and structure have been my weakest points in producing music, to know what to do when. Blast your back & tighten it up with this approach to some pull-downs: while one side is actively working for a desired number of reps, the other is being strengthened isometrically as it’s held in place. Switch & repeat, then finish with both arms for half the amount you did for the single-arm (ex. 10 reps single-arm, 5 reps for both). Find a sweet spot between not too heavy & an challenging amount of reps or for toning lighten the load & go for a higher rep amount. Cable #Woodchopper to hit your obliques. . This is a compound pull which targets both internal and external obliques. . I use LIGHT weights on obliques. Training heavy on your obliques increase SIZE & STRENGTH which builds them up and thickens your waist which is definitely not your aim unless you're just training for strength. But if you're aiming for aesthetics and having a small waist then keep it light on obliques.

It’s so easy to have a hard time sensing our scapulas (shoulder blades). They’re the two triangular-shaped bones on our upper back, and because they live *behind us* and never really come into our line of sight, it’s really common for us to kind of forget they’re even there! . . . And that’s fine 😀, but when we do take the time to consciously connect to them and explore their movement, we might wake up some new neural connections that will give our brain new info for how it wants to move our body. And that can definitely be a great thing! . . . In this variation of forearm plank, I’m doing my best to keep my entire body from head to heels connected as one solidified unit, and then I lower & lift my whole body relative to my scapulas. . . . So the only actual joint movement taking place is just between my scapulas and my rib cage, and that’s it! . . . These are called scapula push-ups and they’re a great way to build strength in the upper back & core, and they’re also great for helping us sense our scapula & rib cage connection better! . . . If you’ve never worked on scapula push-ups before, instead of starting in a plank position, try a hands-and-knees position instead. . . . But remember: this isn’t cat/cow, it’s scapula push-ups! So even though your yoga mind might want to arch & round your spine here, try not to do that because that’s a different movement, OK? 😉 . . . ✔️𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐏✔️ . . . 💥 Have a winging scap you want to work on? Here are 2 good exercises to implement! Now first off, no if you have a winging scap you are not destined for pain or dysfunction. Some people may still even have a little winging after a rehab program, so don’t obsess about it. However, we know that it’s ideal to have stable joints and platforms for force, and having a well stabilized scapula would only help. This video is for those that simply want to work on it and add some stability to that pesky scap. . 1️⃣ Serratus Roll-Out: push the forearms into the foam roller pushing the body away, maintain a flat back avoiding pulling back the scaps. Roll the foam roller up and down in a slow controlled manner while focusing on keeping the scaps engaged and core engaged. . 2️⃣ Banded Pull-Apart Presses: grab a band of any kind and wrap it around the elbow or wrists/hands. Elbow is easier, wrist/hand is harder. Pull the band apart, push the scaps/arms forward keeping the scaps engaged and not retracting, and simply bring the arms up and down like you are pressing weight overhead. Monday Morning Move! This week I will show different exercises to do with a foam roll. This exercise is helpful to engage the Serratus Anterior. This muscle is very helpful in keeping the shoulder blade in a good position as the arm moves. 💪🏼 - If this muscle is weak or not firing at the right time, the result is a shoulder blade that moves too much or improperly. This can lead to problems at the shoulder. 🙅🏼‍♀️ - When “punching” up toward the ceiling, keep the elbows straight. The movement should come from the shoulder blades. It’s also important to keep the shoulders down, away from the ears (don’t shrug the shoulders). - When the arms come back down, think about also squeezing the shoulder blades together. This engages more muscles that are important for stability for the shoulder blade, the Rhomboids and Middle Trap. 🔥 - This exercise can be done flat on the floor and with hand weights, but by lying on the foam roll you add core stability! 🔥🔥🔥 - Leave comments and questions below!
