When I introduce new women into my private wellness accountability group, I share a little picture of them and welcome them in a post. It helps to put a face to a new name. Sometimes it’s hard to find a photo I can use- because the last time a photo was taken of them was years ago.
Mamas, I know we are often the one on the other side of the camera snapping away. But sometimes, get in FRONT of the camera too. Even if you are taking a quick selfie of yourself in the car (tip: car lighting is actually really good). Even if your hair and makeup AREN’T done, but especially take advantage of it if they ARE. Even if you aren't happy with some aspect of your appearance. And please don’t over filter your face to take away the wrinkles and smooth it to oblivion. Your imperfections are what make you YOU. This is ME- post workout, sweaty, remnants of yesterday’s eye makeup, but still smiling. Still took the photo.
When the years go by, someday, those photos will be all your kids have of you to remember exactly the way you smiled. I promise they won’t be thinking about the bags under your eyes or the wrinkles on your forehead. They *MIGHT* laugh at the over-editing… but no matter what, they will be happy to see a picture of YOU. Smiling, happy- 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮. ❤️ at Elk River, Minnesota
