The life of a wild animal is often a harsh one. For the big cats in Africa, it can be rough at times. This female 🦁, found in one of the many prides that roam near Kruger National Park, lost one of her eyes either in a fight with another lion or when chasing prey, such as a Zebra with their powerful hind legs kicking in defense. Regardless of how it happened, her pride/family has continued to take care of her, at least for now. As long as they collectively feel it is in the best interest of the group, she won't be kicked out. After all, there is safety and security found in numbers.
When photographing animals, do you try to connect with your subjects at all? How do you work to create images like this that have impact...images that have something to say?
