Almost two years to the day of getting my open water scuba certification and nine months of rehab from shoulder surgery, I am proud to say that this weekend I got my advanced open water scuba cert! It had been a while since being in the water so I was a little nervous, but luckily I had an ahhhhhmazing instructor (@shannonkacy), a great asst instructor (@seabirdscuba), and a fantastic group of people to learn with.
After going 70ft down into another world we aren’t normally a part of, my feelings of meditation and appreciation naturally became recharged. I felt like an underwater astronaut. I felt nature’s power. I felt focused on the present and the beauty of life around me. I felt like a tiny star in a huge underwater galaxy. I felt peace.
I’ve spent the last nine months rehabilitating my shoulder and this was ultimately the end goal - to get back in the water, learn more, and continue to grow. 71% of our planet is water so I’m grateful and proud to feel even more unlimited in where I can explore and what I can see here on Earth. Next goal: a cleanup dive. #NeverStopExploring #NeverStopGrowing #SaveOurSeas
