As I was walking on 5th Avenue, I was mesmerized by this sculpture. Barcellona born, Jaume Plensa's "Behind the Walls" is part of Frieze Sculpture 2019. .
The artist, describes the sculpture as “A very direct piece. Many times we are blinding ourselves with our hands to be in a more comfortable position.” .
On a personal level, he hopes the sculpture will function like a “mirror”, in which “you can look inside and think about your opinions, your attitudes, what you are doing in your own life.” .
With the opening of Frieze Sculpture at Rockefeller Center , the Plaza and its surrounding buildings will transform into a sculpture park featuring 20 sculptures by 14 contemporary artists, including Kiki Smith, Ibrahim Mahama, Nick Cave, Sarah Sze, Walter De Maria, and Joan Miró. Between the main plaza and the skating rink, seven sculptures appeared...a split stone, a door of sorts and a raised fist. On Fifth Avenue, a white head with disembodied hands over its eyes loomed at 28 feet. Here at Rock Center until the end of June. A must see! at Rockefeller Center
