All 6856m of Ama Dablam from Base Camp at 4600m. The highest point of the ridge on the right is Camp 1 at roughly 5900m. To put that in perspective, it is higher than Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Vinson's Massif and Puncak Jaya - 4 of the 7 summits.
The double hump further left along the ridge is the famous Camp 2 - the most exposed camp of the climb. Definitely the most spectacular! Camp 2 resides at 6100m, almost as high as Denali.
From there it is easy to follow the ridge to the summit where names such as "The Great Colouir" and "Mushroom Ridge" give you some idea of the obstacles ahead. Below and right of the Dablam, the serac that gives the Mountain it's name, is Camp 3 at 6400m. A spectacular but windy location.
From Camp 3 it's almost a vertical climb straight to the summit. If you climb strong and summit in the morning light, you will be treated with the most beautiful sunrise i think you'll ever see.
There are some things worth savoring without a camera.
