Sorry all for slacking on the posts! I’ve been busy the last couple days doing “homework” for a class! 😬 it’s not quite Thursday yet but here’s a #throwback from when I went through the @emsedsolutions EMS Education Methodologies Course, pictured on the left is me lecturing on the @zollmedical impact ventilator that my former agency used, and the right is me giving a lecture on pneumothoraces for the class.. Education of and passing on knowledge to the next generation of EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses, etc.. is essential. Sometimes you hear things like “those who can’t do, teach..”. I’d like to think that I’m a testament that that adage is not true. I personally know a few others as well, like my brotha, @chadoliver3114 .. and the owner of the company who puts on that education class, Alan. All highly competent providers in their respective disciplines, nowhere near “can’t do”, who both are educators.
Back to the point, we all start somewhere. We were all green at one time. So when you have new hires or students, take them under your wing and teach them. If you have experience, consider being an FTO or preceptor, but lose your bad habits. If you’re really feeling froggy, think about teaching (formally) in some capacity.. the next generation needs to be taught, and taught right! so they can take care of us when we get old!
