Check out these 4 tips to maximize your pre and post workout nutrition! ⠀ 4 Tips For Your Best Workout Nutrition💪🏽 ⠀ Follow Your Preferences – First and foremost, there are tons of different messages about how to eat before, during and after the workout, but at the end of the day, it comes down to your personal preference. Do you prefer to train fasted or totally fed? Science suggests there isn’t anything inherently good or bad about either choice so choosing the route that provides the best performance for you as an individual is always recommended. ⠀ Avoid Large Meals – Unless it’s your preference to do so, consuming large meals before training isn’t the best idea. Apart from the fact that you’ll have a large amount of undigested food in your gut, big meals can activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which prioritizes digestion and rest, which isn’t what you want during a workout. If you like to be fed before training, it’s a good idea to keep this meal on the lighter side, unless you prefer large meals. ⠀ Consume Protein Around The Workout – If nothing else, it’s a good idea to consume protein either before or after the workout, since doing so increases muscle protein synthesis, or the generation of new contractile components of muscle. Mostly, it will come down to preference when you consume your protein. ⠀ Experiment With Nutrient Timing – When you consume carbohydrates is largely your preference, but saving the bulk of carb consumption around the workout can positively influence your training performance and recovery. Try saving your carbs for after the workout session or for just prior to your training sessions. See if either method changes your workouts or how you progress.
