These guys are everywhere at Bukit Timah nature reserve, and best thing is, they don’t seem easily spooked by human presence (so long as we keep a respectful distance). That meant I could manage a few close shots of this common yet intriguing critter while he was foraging for food :) . . . I'm SUPER proud to show off Mana's new PVC Vision Cage! This was an all day project getting plants and everything together but the end product is fantastic! With help from @hawaiian_grizzly he crafted a homemade heat bulb cage and aided in plant placement! The mixture is 75/50 topsoil/peat sphagnum. In a few days my Mistking mister will come in and she will have automatic rainforest rain daily. #royalpythonsofinstagram #ballpython #ballpythonsofinstagram #bioactivevivarium #bioactive #snake #snakes #reptilesofinstagram #reptiles #repileroom

This is a repost from @beardiebrandice. She knows how crazy excited I get over baby dragons. I love that light, that allows us to see movement. 🔦🥚 * * Here's the update from the Dragon Mama, herself: Minerva and Horus babies coming any day! The sweating is usually a good sign they'll be here soon! I think it helps to soften the shell. That position seems to be a pretty telltale as well. 🙏 #babiesontheway #beardeddragonbreeder #reptilebreeder #beardeddragon #beardeddragons #beardie #beardies #beardielove #beardeddragonsofig #beardiesofinstagram #beardeddragonsofinstagram #lizard #lizards #lizardsofinstagram #reptile #reptiles #reptilesofinstagram #dragonsofinstagram #itsabeardieslife #pogonavitticepsofinstagram #dragonlove #pogona #pogonavitticeps #dragonmom #dragonmama #motherofdragons #coldbloodedpets

The monocled cobra (Naja kaouthia) is native to South Asia and Southeast Asia. The monocled cobra's venom is one of the fastest acting snake venoms in the world. Its venom, which has different potency depending on where the snake is found, can cause death within an hour of envenomation. The neurotoxins in its venom leads to drowsiness, neurological problems and muscle issues. They feed on small mammals such as rodents, and other snakes. Juveniles eat amphibians. The snake’s length ranges from 4 to 5 feet with a maximum length of 7.5 feet. They are called monocled cobras due to the O shape hood pattern, also knowns as the monocellate hood pattern. #cobra #naja #reptilesofinstagram #venom #nature #wild #naturelovers at Mother Nature.

@zookeeper_dan and I catching one of (if not the MOST) endangered species of freshwater turtle in the world – the Bellinger River turtle. There is less than 150 left in the world!!!The species was wiped out on the mid-north coast of NSW due to disease 😢 but being able to see an individual in the wild was a true highlight for Dan and I! @australia @aussieark @australianreptilepark @visitnsw @visitbarringtontops @reptilerooms @reptiles_magazine @reptileszone_ig @_reptile_lovers #wildlifeoftimfaulkner #reptile #reptiles #reptilesofinstagram #turtle #turtles #turtlesofinstagram #bellingerriverturtle #photography #igers #igdaily

Fun little video of a Eastern Hognose playing dead and being overly dramatic like usual. Video was taken by a friend named Justin, he doesn’t have an Instagram so no way to credit him. The animal isn’t being harmed in this video. This is simply a defensive mechanism to get predators to leave them alone. They act dead and musk themselves so that they’ll smell really bad and it makes predators go away most of the time. Not many people are aware some snakes play dead like this so I saw this as a perfect opportunity to show you guys.

My poor bubba has very minor shell rot. Luckily I caught it early! 😤 I do spot clean my enclosure daily. I care for my totes a lot in terms of cleanliness and health but sometimes sh*t can still happen 😕 the betadine should take care of it np 😌👍remember to inspect your pets frequently!

Meet Andrew the gaboon adder (I may have named him after myself) Gaboon adders are the fourth deadliest in Africa. It has the largest fangs of any snake at 4cm-5cm and contains all four types of venom found it snakes. They are however very docile in comparison to other venomous snakes and sadly critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching. It's not just the cute and cuddly animals that need protection every animal is important at KZN Wildlife Crocodile Centre
