One of the coolest experiences:
For 9 days in a row, i had 2.5 to 3.5 hours of sleep every night. The following day, I worked on the Hilux at @calculated_chaos_ to prepare for a Television show in the Carolinas.
I was ordered to tow the Hilux to the film set. I had to borrow a truck to tow with. Cutting it close, i had no time to sleep and just had to drive straight through the night to @tickperformance in NC. The power steering pump took a dump in the borrowed tow rig and had to be swapped out for another borrowed truck shortly into the all night drive.
Arriving at @tickperformance at 8:45am we tossed the Hilux on the dyno making 850whp on the very first pull. After a few pulls, struggling with wastegate troubles, we spiked 27psi and bent all 8 connecting rods.
Now on day 2 with absolutely no sleep, i was scrambling to find a solution because i had to film at sun up the following morning. Trying to convince John at Tick to let me commandeer his shop and rebuild the engine. He said my ambition is admirable but just isn't realistic. He says he doesn't believe its possible to rebuild the engine and be ready to film in South Carolina in the morning. Being supportive of the dream he hands me a box of genIV rods/pistons and says "good luck!". Push the truck on the trailer and head to meet the Tech Inspector in Charlotte. I convince him to inpect it on the trailer so he doesn't know the motor is blown. With a thumbs up from Tech, i get on social media and this is where it gets good!
This is where 7 random strangers who I've never met and they've never met each other show up at @hyperformancellc to pull the engine, swap rings, machine a billet ring compressor and reassemble.
I took a real good ribbing and was reminded that i cursed myself by painting the engine. I was losing my mind, going loopy, seeing things and having trouble forming sentences as the sun started to rise on my 3rd day of absolutely zero sleep. This dedicated group of dudes came straight from work, stayed up all night and went right back to work in the same clothes BUT not before hearing the Hilux fire back up!!! Everyone signed the truck and i made it to the film shoot 1min early.
