In 2016, Kira Johnson tragically lost her life after delivering her second son via a routine c-section at Cedars Sinai. Kira was allowed to bleed internally for more than 10 hours before the medical staff at Cedars Sinai took action. ⠀ ⠀ 4Kira4Moms was founded by Kira's husband, Charles Johnson IV, with the mission to advocate for improved maternal health policies and regulations, to educate the public about the impact of maternal mortality in communities, provide peer support to the victim's family, friends, and promote the idea that maternal mortality should be viewed, and discussed as a human rights issue.⠀ ⠀ @4Kira4Moms fights to eradicate maternal mortality. More women die in the United states each year than in any other civilized country in the world. In the USA, maternal mortality rates have more than doubled since 1990.⠀ ⠀ 4Kira4Moms is currently calling on Congress to pass H.R.1318. That legislation will support States in their work to save and sustain the health of mothers during pregnancy, childbirth, and in the postpartum period, to eliminate disparities in maternal health outcomes for pregnancy-related and pregnancy-associated deaths, to identify solutions to improve health care quality and health outcomes for mothers. ⠀ ⠀ We are proud to showcase the work @4Kira4Moms does to advocate for #MaternalHealth as this month's Maternal Health Disrupter. If you would like to learn more, or find out how you can help the cause, we urge you to check out 4Kira4Moms.com. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 📸 via @4kira4moms⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ #maternalhealthdisrupter #ilovemydad #dad #daddy #fatherhood #parenthood #maternalhealth #postpartumhealth #changeiscoming #APPLYPREASURE #4Kira4moms #demandchange #everymomcounts #maternalhealthmatters #blackmaternalhealth #maternalhealthcare #maternaljustice #beyondmothersday #BlackMamasMatter #everymothercounts

Have you heard of the calling of David to be the next king? . . To sum it up, the King went to Jesse's house and Jesse presented all of his sons to the King... except for David. David was out shepherding. The King felt a little "off". BUT "The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7) . . And when the King met David, he anointed him right there. . . 👉🏻This is just a reminder to not let others determine what God wants to do through you.👈🏻 God is absolutely calling you to something, and you can rest assured that if He were done with you, you wouldn't still be here. 😘 . . Happy holiday weekend! Make smart choices 😉 Get in a workout before the day gets away from you, eat something healthy before heading to a party, get your rest, and DRINK YOUR WATER! 💦 . . . . . #healthyfam #5monthspostpartum #postpartumfitness #postpartumhealth #youcandoit #doitforyou #instafitness #instahealth #progressnotperfection #postpartumfitnessjourney #fitnessjourney #ohiofitness #clevelandfitness #clevelandohio #breastfeedingmom #stayathomemom #workingmom #workathomemom #strongwomen #mentalstrength #warriornotworrier #depressionfighter #beginnerrunner #momswhorun #motherrunner #morningworkout #workoutmorning at Beachwood, Ohio

Where will you be 3, 20, 30 days from now? ⁣ ⁣ Will you be feeling stronger? Healthier? Happier? Proud? ⁣ ⁣ Today was day 20/21 for my current program. ⁣ I got up at 4am - on Saturday - to get it done. ⁣ ⁣ I HATE getting up early on weekends guys!! ⁣ ⁣ It sucked! ⁣ ⁣ But I did it because going into the weekend, spending those 30 minutes on me puts my mind in a more positive place, allows me to focus on my family more, stay more in control of my eating (because we all know weekend eating is where things fall apart 😂😂) ⁣ ⁣ I’ve really struggled with this program being 7 days a week, ⁣ but I made myself a promise - and I’d rather struggle and still come through, check in with our accountability group, and make it happen. ⁣ ⁣ Then give up altogether. ⁣ ⁣ I had to take it ONE day at a time. ⁣ One workout at a time. ⁣ ⁣ Call it being stubborn or persistent, as long as it happens 🤪⁣ ⁣ If I can stick with it and still make it through the day...why not you? ⁣ ⁣ IF your mind is in it 😘⁣ ⁣ Just 2 spots left in our private virtual accountability group starting June 3rd! ⁣ ⁣ Want to join the party?? 😁⁣ ⁣ Shoot me a message or drop an emoji below and I’ll reach out!👇👇

Not me 🙅🏻‍♀️, not anymore. . . Weekends used to be my excuse and I would look forward to them... A chance to skip the routine, go balls to the walls with food + drinks and “get out of” my workout 🤦🏻‍♀️. . . Over the years it’s become my release, my way of letting go and kicking the day of right and now I honestly look forward to it... even on the weekends!!! . . We are booked with all the events and parties 🎉 over the next few days and I know there will be food and drinks galore, so kicking things off with a 30 minute sweat is my key to balance this weekend 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 . . CHANGES | To finish off the Australian Natural Medicine Week, let's talk about changes. ~ Two of the main ways nutritional therapists help people is through dietary and lifestyle modifications. We also use supplements to balance out nutrient deficiencies, help heal the gut, support the liver, and so on when food alone is not enough. But the toughest part is making changes to longstanding, often lifelong dietary and lifestyle habits. ~ The impact of diet and lifestyle is well documented and plays a significant role in virtually every aspect of health. Gut, brain, stress, anxiety, skin, liver...the list goes on. ~ Collaborating with a practitioner identifies and thus corrects the underlying causes that trigger illness. If you are unwilling to change you may at best get some symptomatic relief. However the practitioner will work with you and make practical suggestions that will fit in context with your day to day life - we will help to make it achievable! 🍋🥑 . . . #naturalmedicineweek #naturalmedicineweek2019 #healthyliving #makingchanges

-Sometimes Words don’t Mean a Thing- Before my husband and I were married we had premarital counseling. We paired up with a more seasoned couple to go over very important issues before we tied the knot. We equipped ourselves with tools to navigate these issues. One of the biggest topics was communication. Our premarital couple gave us amazing insight when it came to this topic. We learned that tone is important when it comes to communication or rather miscommunication. ___________ Who has experienced a disagreement based on how the other person said something rather than what was actually said? 🙋🏻‍♀️ You don’t have to respond to that, but I’m sure I’m not the only one. I tend to analyze tone and body language when I am communicating with someone...even through email or txt msg. I somehow believe I can hear the tone and see the non verbal communication (emojis) in the message. ____________ Someone could say “yeah” and if the “wrong” tone coupled with the “wrong” body language are used, I may hear “feelings” or “implied intent” that may not truly exist. Tone has the power to make or break a conversation. Tone has the power to make or break a relationship. ___________ Self-centered thinking can result in feeling that a response is a direct reflection of how a person views or feels about you. I wonder how often this is NOT the case. In fact, I venture to say this may rarely be the case. ____________ • • • #postpartumdepression #maternalhealth #maternalmentalhealthmonth2019 #mmhmonth2019 #maternalmentalhealth #bluedotproject #postpartumanxiety #postpartumhealth #postpartumsupport #thisispostpartum #momsofinstagram #momlife #mom #momtruth #momstruggles #postpartumhealing #stigmafighter #ppd #pmad #storiesbehindthephotos #makingovermotherhood #postpartumstories #fightthestigma #mintpslams

Throwback even though it’s not Thursday 😂 My best friend had her baby recently and it’s made me want to go through our old photos when Lunaya was a sleepy newborn. Postpartum is a very sacred time (although postpartum never really ends) but those first 6 weeks are extremely important. My biggest advice to mamas is make sure you have a meal train set up and have daily help from people who come over and take care of chores without any expectation that mom has to interact. If you don’t have a community then hire someone because I’m telling you it’s worth it! Sleep, be pampered and eat good food. This time goes by so fast. Your body needs to be nourished. Many women experience postpartum depletion (different than postpartum depression) because they weren’t given the time to heal from one of the biggest events of their lives. The last advice I love to give new moms is but a sign on the door of your expectations when someone comes over or a list of chores you would like to be done. It’s an easy way to get the help you need without having to think about it :) #postpartumhealth #newbornbabygirl #thisissacred #wombyn #feelthemagic #sleepwhenbabysleeps

Take prenatal vitamins. Use natural deoderant. Don't eat deli meat. Double your vegetable servings. Eat whatever you can stomach. Have a natural birth. Don't get any pain medication, it could dull your newborn. Get pain medication because you will need it. Breastfeed. Fed is best. Keep them in your room for at least three months. Only put them in sleep sacks at night. Sleep sacks will impede their development in crawling and rolling. Follow a strict schedule. Let them sleep when they want. Attend to your child whenever they need attention. Let them cry it out. But not too long or you will cause brain damage. Don't watch tv. Don't let them watch tv. If you do watch tv, it can only be educational. Only feed them all natural non GMO organic fresh food. Buy baby food when it's on sale. Limit your child's sugar intake. Let your child eat as much as they want of whatever they will eat. Tummy time. Jolly jumper. But not too much. Take them outside. Keep them out of the sun. Stay at home. Be with them 24/7. Go back to work. But not too soon. And blablablablablablablablablablablablablablabla . Let's talk about Mom Guilt for a second. It should basically be considered an epidemic. And it's because of all of the conflicting advice I just listed. Advice is kind, but there is just too much to sort. From pregnancy and beyond, everything we do and don't do is good and bad all at the same time. . It is SO hard to navigate. The truth is, no matter what we do as parents, some of it will work and some of it won't. As long as we are honest with ourselves and trust our children's cues we will be okay. Our kids will be okay. . Whenever I feel overwhelmed and like I'm getting it all wrong, I remind myself that my son and I are learning together. Our relationship is an experience. And it's important, especially in times of doubt to stop and enjoy it.

Mamas at the studio have been giving me so much advice about having another baby and I’m loving it! ⁣ ⁣ Here’s something a mom shared with me about the transition from one to two kids. I think this was true going from two to three and will definitely be the case for the jump from three to four!⁣ ⁣ In the beginning, just SURVIVE. Do whatever you can to make it through the days. ⁣ ⁣ The first 6 months will be a blur, you might barely remember them. So don’t worry about doing things perfectly, just do what you can. ⁣ ⁣ It’s not the same as when you just had one baby, now you’ve got a baby plus a bunch of older kids running around! It makes things harder, but you CAN and WILL make it. Who’s in the middle of the postpartum period? Do you have any other tips or tricks? Get out in nature Have you ever noticed how being outside amongst nature seems to calm your heart? I find that just looking out at trees and bush helps me to feel better when I’m feeling stressed. It’s even been proven that being out in nature is beneficial for reducing stress! I feel like this is something all mums need! So how can you get out in nature more to experience the benefits? Here are some ways I’ve found to be helpful for me! 1️⃣ Eat a meal with a view 2️⃣ Go for a wander and sit in the garden or local park 3️⃣ Go for a bush/nature walk 4️⃣ Take a picture or find a picture of nature to use as your screen saver 5️⃣ Engage in an outdoor sport 6️⃣ Get an indoor plant for the place you spend the most time in Please enjoy my back veranda view. We are so blessed to back onto a nature reserve that we can admire at any time 🌲🌿🌳🌱🌴🍃 #mumfit #mumstrong #preandpostnatalcoach #mindfulness #nature #outdoors #reducestress #reducestressnaturally #postpartum #postpartumbody #postpartumhealth

Sunshine, snuggles and superfoods...Yes please! ⁣ ⁣ I never thought I would be a shake person, I always said I like to chew my food, it’s can’t really make THAT much of a difference 🤷🏼‍♀️ ⁣ But boy did I eat crow on this one! This has made a huge difference 🙌 This “dumb” shake has over 70 superfoods in it alone! Most shakes you would have to ADD extra supplements to it to even come close! It provides energy and immune support, helps with weight loss, crushes my sweet tooth cravings and aids in digestion and irregularity 💩 And the fact I can give it to my daughter and not have to worry about what’s in it, sold me even more! ⁣ ⁣ When I used to hear “protein shake” I would instantly gag 🤢 and try to convince myself to drink it as quickly as humanly possible. But with this guy whole new game, I actually enjoy it! Curious about these shakes I love so much 🤔 Send me a message or comment below 👇

Yay for #healthylunchideas 😍 Lunch is seriously one of my favorite meals. Actually, it’s one of my favorite times of the day to be in the kitchen and let the creativity flow. Cooking really can be an art form if you allow it to be! Don’t be afraid to try new things and see what you’re capable of doing ✨ -Sweet potato hash with peppers and onions, topped with 2 over easy farm fresh eggs and sprinkled with pink salt, EBTB seasoning (and a little cheese) with a side of avo 😍🥑 Happy #friday friends! at Dickinson, North Dakota

This little goofus is my saving grace. She loves me when I feel most unlovable. She loves me when I'd rather just not be a mom anymore. She loves me when I'm feeling my ugliest. . I struggled with depression and anxiety when my first was born. My hormones were whacked out, I literally hadn't slept in almost 3 straight days during his first week of life. I was a wreck. . I had many instances where I regretted my decision to become a mom. But how could I feel that way when I had fought so hard to have him? I didn't recognize that I was struggling with PPD & PPA for over a year. Plus, my son was just a more challenging baby. Add that to the fact that I had no idea what I was doing and it was rough. . When I got pregnant the second time, I was way more nervous than the first time because I knew better what to expect. And I didn't know if I had it in me to go through that again. We got through the pregnancy. The birth was much harder than the first time and left me with a little PTSD and a better idea of what my pain threshold is. . But this baby was so much different. It's like from the beginning she knew that I had had a though time in motherhood for the last 2 years. Not only did she take it easy on me (not perfect but MUCH easier than my first) but she seemed to know exactly how and when to cheer me up. . God knew exactly what little person needed to be in my life at this time. He knew we all needed her. So any time I get the chance to just enjoy her I do my best to absorb every ounce of it. . . . #postpartumhealth #allnaturalingredients #postpartumdepression #postpartumanxiety #depressionrelief #anxietyrelief #healthymomma #momstruggles #happylife #toddlermom #healthypregnancy #fourthtrimester #pregnancyhealth #ppdhelp #uniteinmotherhood #healthandwellness #pregnantmoms #motherhoodunplugged #honestmotherhood #balancedgut #parentingishard #momlife #momlifebelike #postpartummentalhealth #chasingatoddler #crunchymom #mentalhealth #momlifeisthebestlife #momlifeishard #mentalhealthawareness

I started this fitness journey back in January. Every week since I have managed to fit in 3-6 workouts. I am so damn proud of myself for committing to an exercise routine and not letting anything get in the way▫️ . . But I can’t say the same about my nutrition. I have definitely had days where I’ve indulged a little too much. But 3 weeks ago I committed to a new home workout program and promised myself I would make healthier options when it comes to my nutrition. This program gives you the tools to help you learn portion sizes, healthy carbs, and the right calorie intake for your body ▫️ . . I’m feeling more confident as the days go by and I’m getting the hang of this lifestyle change. I’ve learned it’s all about balance. If you want the cookie eat the dang cookie! When you restrict yourself chances are you’ll still find a way to eat the cookie and then some. I’d use food as my comfort. If I was craving something and told myself I wasn’t allowed to have it that craving would build up and by the end of a long hectic day I’d end up having it anyways and completely over indulge. This photo was taken on day one, three weeks ago. I have lost 5 pounds in these three weeks and the bloating in my stomach has gone down so much. I’m feeling stronger and leaner and I can’t wait to see how the last couple weeks of this program goes! 👊🏻 . . Your current situation is giving you an opportunity to re-evaluate what you really want. You’re only one workout away from starting your journey too and I can help you get started. Our next fit bootcamp starts June 10th! DM me for more info and let me help you help yourself babe 🌻 . . . . . . . #happyhealthyme #motherhoodlife #motherhoodiscolorful #postpartumhealth #postpartumdepression #postpartumanxiety #mindsetchange #yearofyou #angelmama #lifeafterloss #tattooedmama #momswithtattoos #momswithanxiety #montanamama #montanalove #myanxiousheart #anxiousfornothing #anxiousmama #thriftymom #thriftymama #thriftedstyle #momstylelife #mothersaremagic #dontmesswithmama #transform20 #liftformation #postpartumweightlossjourney at Missoula, Montana
