How can you cultivate a more mindful approach to nature?
This is a question I keep asking myself. It's a good question, one I think we should all ask.
Because God created nature.
He made it with intention, rich with beauty, and all to remind us of His incredible Glory and love.
I am hating this trend of neglecting to credit the Creator. I am hating seeing people worshipping plants and speaking in "like accumulating" half truths. It's easy to shy away from hard topics, from the topics that don't get many "likes" on Instagram.
Trust me. I REALLY get it.
But we are called to act better. We are called to share God's love and truth. We are called to credit the Creator.
So here are 3 ways you can worship God and practice TRUE mindfulness and intentionality as you enjoy nature.
1. If you see a plant that you don't recognize stop and snap a photo! Then learn the name. I use a plant indentifier app called @plantsnap - the free version has lots of ads, but it's a good app. Then read about the plant! Learn about it.
2. Ask God to reveal Himself to you as you are walking outside, or even just caring for your houseplants. I know it sounds too simple, but God wants to meet us where we are at. Sometimes we just need help to pay attention. So, just ask.
3. Enjoy plant care or nature with your family. God created us to live within community. We NEED people. Dive deeper into relationships that are good, healthy, and God glorifying. One of my FAVORITE things about nature is how God uses it to bring people together. Plant people are some of the most generous people I know! Let's share this love of things that grow with those we love and watch God work.
Which number resonates with you? Which can you start being more intentional and add to your life?
p.s. This is a plant I kept seeing and fell in love with! 😍 It's called Climbing nightshade (Solanum dulcamara) I used @plantsnap to identify it! *Not an affiliate, yet 😉 at Cannon Beach, Oregon
