Some training days don’t always go as planned. This one turned out to be better than planned with the surprise of SNOW!!! Living in Northern California, we don’t get snow very often. It was a fun surprise that made for a slow muddy... very muddy run. As the morning turned into afternoon the snow started to melt and we saw the sun. Overall, you couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces all day. It was beautiful!! Yesterday I spent the majority of the day climbing mountains and it was a wonderful experience and I’m grateful to the lads inviting me to go with them. I’ve never done anything like this before and it was so great to get a complete break from normal life routines and to get to see such stunning views and nature’s beauty. Such an activity is highly therapeutic and energizing. I’d recommend to anyone especially if life overwhelming you. It will do wonders as it has for me. I am likely the first person to climb mountains in barefoot runners and feet were killing by end but surprisingly not much soreness today. I also enjoyed our well earned rest in the pub afterwards😂🤪

Oh yeah, epic mission today! Back to Rainbow Beach Trails, this time with a divert to the Lake. These are sandy tough trail that really work those legs. @jencavic little legs did well. We did an extra 2kms and we were 20mins quicker than our last run here. Having the extra hydration really helped. Tested out some new nutrition while we were at it. They are are carbs, protein and fats, which I'm sure most people have heard of, but do you know sources of each? # 🥜This is a very simple method of looking at as most foods have two or even three of the the macronutrients. For example I've put legumes like beans in both protein & carbs, they are a great source of both and should be a staple in your diet. This is purely to give you some idea of the main nutrient in each. # 🥑By knowing the macronutrients of food we can ensure we are getting a mix of all three and throughout the day and it can also help with building muscle & retaining muscle when losing fat. For example a person strength training 5 x times a week will have higher protein needs than someone not training, so we can add a couple more from the protein list into their day. After our lovely vegan delicious meal tonight, Hubby @watterson168 and I started talking about the small impact our food choices are having. We have calculated that in a year we were probably consumed the equivalent of two cows, three lambs, 30 chooks and at least one pig a year. That made me feel a bit sad. We feel great and honestly don’t miss any animal products. We are the fittest we have ever been and I have never felt so much food freedom! We made this choice for many reasons and one was to do with the welfare of animals. The other reason was for our health. Becoming endurance athletes requires good engine food and we certainly do that! We both agree that though our impact is small, we feel we are doing some good in our world. Productive and energizing morning is far. After my usual morning routine I did a bodyweight workout followed by a 4km fast walk with positive mindfeed and education in my ears and into my mind. Enjoyed getting out and getting fresh air on a beautiful crisp morning. Then when I got back I had a yummy breakfast. I also while doing my bodyweight workout completed my 30 min daily reading commitment (via audio) and I’m about to do my daily spanish lesson before starting some work. Take care of YOU first and especially today of all days learn to love and Prioritise the most important person in your life - YOU!!!

Un bowl fácil, saludable y base de plantas es la idea que les dejo para almorzar... Les dejo los ingredientes que son muy fáciles de conseguir y de hacer 👍🏼 . La base es puro BERRO, me gusta utilizar también kale, espinaca etc. porque me brinda más fuerza a nivel nutricional que hacerlo únicamente con Lechuga que es prácticamente AGUA.... si deciden hacerlo con Lechuga, les aconsejo que la mezclen con algunas de las verduras que les nombré para darle aún más valor nutricional a ese plato de comida que estás por devorar... . el aderezo que utilicé es la mayonesa de aguacate que la pueden conseguir en mi feed. . Berenjenas a la plancha. . 3 tajadas hechas en el AIR FRYER. . Y FALAFEL de garbanzos que hice en estos días, lo cociné en el AIR FRYER . La receta de mis FALAFEL pueden conseguirla en mis hightlights donde dice RECIPES. . Nueces glaseadas, la cantidad que usé fue una cucharada más o menos . Y mucha cayenna por encima porque me gusta comer bien picante 🤪 . Éste plato contiene absolutamente TODOS LOS MACROS que se necesitan al momento de comer. (Carbs, proteína, y grasas 👍🏼). . I’m a club soccer player but I’m also a wrestler , jiu jitsu fighter and MMA fighter . grappling and rolling in the ground it’s what I’ve been doing since I was 5 years old , so falling in the grass means absolutely nothing to me , bouncing back is what we wrestlers do , then I forget I’m supposed to fake it and cry in the grass for 10 min and maybe a penalty in my favor !! This morning started week 13 of training for #roadtokona2020 So for W13W1 I did a run. I had thought the route I chose would be about 10km but ended up less than 6km. Anyway it was enough as I’m freezing conditions and with my right hip and lower back aggravating me while running 5.6km was enough. I took it at a medium pace but there were also some steep enough hills while short ones. Was weird wearing about 5 layers including body warmer and a jacket but good for me🤔. Im going to see how this week goes as may make it an active rest type week and let my body heal and stretch a lot. I’ve had 5 tough training weeks so far and the long game is far more important than short game.

Super excited about my new Ski Patrol pack! Osprey makes such awesome gear, and has a lifetime guarantee!! I have a bunch of gear from them, and luggage, and have never been disappointed. Another @cyclingweeklymagazine article full of "warnings" for those eating plants. Unfounded and bias as usual. Clearly their guy hasn't been keeping up with current science as recommending dairy as a good source of protein is terrible advice. To be clear the warnings should ALWAYS be for those NOT following a plant based diet, food is a complete package and whilst the nutrients you get from meat and dairy might be beneficial, the saturated fat and cholesterol is NOT. Diets high in animal products have been linked time and time over to all the leading killers such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, kidney disease. What's more the World Health organisation classes processed meat as class 1 carcinogenic, so definitely causes cancer, and other meat as "probably causes cancer". The combining of essential amino acids myth has long been debunked yet these magazines continue to peddle it. You can and will easily meet all protein demands from eating a range of whole plant foods. That’s a strange shot, you might say. This is a very proud area for me to capture. For the first time in my life, I am comfortable in my skin. Freckly and pasty. Short and strong. All of myself, especially the flaws. . . See that shoulder indentation? That reminds me of the hard work I’ve put in. The early mornings. The consistent showing up. The nourishing food. . . The freckles? A reminder of the importance of family and the special genetic code that was handed down. The afternoons spent playing in the sun with my children. The sweaty days spent running each summer. . . I am far from having a perfect body and I am so glad about that. Imperfection makes each of us unique and loveable. We all have bodies made from our own life choices. I’m thankful I choose HEALTH every single day.
