We’ve been going for over 3 years and each month get together to cook, eat and connect. The host picks the book and we create a menu from that book, each of us cooking and bringing a dish or two. 13 days postpartum. Excited to share my postnatal rehab journey with you all. Surprisingly my body feels so much better this time around than after my first pregnancy. After I had my first son Flinders 2 years ago, I found I really felt it in my body. Then this last pregnancy I had all the aches and pains, it was significantly worse than my first so I must admit I was a little scared. However I have been pleasantly surprised. I must admit I feel less inclined to rush back into things this time, I’m very content taking my time, I’m sleeping, resting and generally just taking it very easy. I feel so much more relaxed and am just finding my groove and routine. My focus as always is on function and my mental space and right now both are feeling pretty amazing which is such a nice feeling. It’s allowing me to just enjoy this time with my family and focus on what’s really important. My boys. ❤️ Another nice thing is with my online program I don’t have to think about exercise, I literally have a plan mapped out and program to follow that is appropriate for where I am at and what my body needs. It’s as simple as hooking it up to my tv and following it. This will stop me from progressing ahead before I should as well. ❤️ Video 1. Core recruitment, neutral spine and some pelvic floor exercises ❤️ Video 2. Posture care through gentle flexibility. This is what I find I need most. Not being as active as I normally am, particularly after being in hospital and being in bed for days I found I just needed to stretch gently to correct my posture. This has helped me sleep better and ensure my posture is healthy for movement. ❤️ Video 3. The online program hooks up to your tv. Completed module 3 yin yoga and myofascial release by @ashtangisyinster. Thank you Stanley for being a great teacher and facilitator! . I was so fortunate to learn with a generous and energetic group of trainees who are so willing to share and give feedback. The knowledge I acquired in this course is so much more than the course content, and it is only possible working with actual people. The shared knowledge and experience greatly enhanced my knowledge base. . No online course, no matter how complete, can possibly replace the knowledge gained from working with real bodies! More so when as a yoga and Pilates teacher, my job involves #real people with their infinite nuances, not an idealised model. . Our guest teacher Aloysius Lim introduced us to #muscletesting. It was so fascinating to see AND feel first hand the impact #myofascial release has on strength and stability! . Now it's back to teaching, and learning from my members and clients. I like to utilize various versions of a seemingly simple task. This not only offers various challenges but it also keeps them engaged. ——- Here is one variation I like to use when addressing single leg neuromuscular control. We’re using a med ball and dropping into a single leg RDL. She is then bouncing the ball three times before raising the ball above her head. ——- 🧠There needs to be formal education on ACL rehab which is why I started an ACL Mastermind Group. It’ll feature video content on ACL rehab and will he a continuously growing database of assessments, movement breakdown, exercise breakdown, case studies, and exercises. #Pilates for Cycling: Before & After! 😒👉😃 My husband is training for the Hotter n’ Hell Hundred, a 100 mile bike ride in Texas in August. We added Pilates to his training. He rode 54 miles yesterday and adjusted my little wooden model to demonstrate how he felt today. The second photo is how he felt AFTER he did some Pilates. 🤸‍♂️ ...from tired, tight and sore to #energized and lighter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #cyclist can benefit greatly from Pilates, countering the forward flexion on the bike with back extension (shown in the 3rd photo) and moves to open and stretch the chest, 4th photo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Directions: Back Extension (3rd photo) with foam roller👉 lay in a prone position with your fore arms on the roller. Keeping your head in line with your spine, inhale to lift. Maintain abdominal support and gently glide the shoulder blades down as you lift. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Back Support (4th photo) with foam roller. 👉Sitting with arms extended behind you and chest open, calves resting on the roller. Exhale, lift pelvis off the mat so that the body is in a straight line. Inhale, lower the pelvis without touching the mat. ⚠️Be careful not to flare the ribs.
