Pecs on Deck !! Here’s a true confession, chest used to be one of my least favorite muscle groups too work !! ▪️ I was just drilling all my groups and chest on occasion. Once I committed to adding chest into my rotation a few years ago, I can not only see but feel the difference! ▪️ Now I work it out at least twice a week constantly changing up my exercises and I absolutely love ❤️ it !! ▪️ Did you catch that ? Did some overloaded weight on bench press today and this was a first. Yes...I know I have a sling shot on but at least I know what this feels like now! Pec Dec Day! . 1️⃣ Bench Press 6 Sets @ 4-6 Reps 2️⃣ Shoulder Press 4 Sets @ 6-8 Reps 3️⃣ Pec Fly Cable 4 Sets @ 5 Singles/5 Doubles 4️⃣ Incline Dumbbell Press 4 Sets @ 4-6 Reps 5️⃣ Lateral Raises/ Front Raises 3 Sets @ 8-10 Reps 6️⃣ Pec Fly 3 Sets @ 5 Singles/ 10 Doubles . A lot of strength workout being done on the compound movements as bench press as became a major priority and a lot more volume from the other exercises used in the workout . Another focus from today’s session was time under tension (TUT) as seen in both pec flys with both sides of the pec being worked even without one side moving . Another tip and I see so many people doing it wrong is raises. You will see so many people in the gym grab the weight tight when in actual fact to get the best benefit you should use your hand as a hook for the weight and control the weight before it comes in front of your body with minimal to no swaying of your body . Pecs were always my weak point. Really was a grind to get those 110 lbs up in the air. Takes the whole winter and serious fat gains to lift heavy for me. Still struggling with the first rep. A quick set from the most recent push session, ongoing rotator cuff issues meant that any form of free weight pressing for chest was a definite no go today, thankfully performing dips was painless. Before the Form Police go crazy keep in mind these are performed to target the chest, feel free to dip as low as you wish but keep in mind the aim here is a controlled negative portion of the rep with tension remaining on the pec tissue, also conscious of transferring the emphasis to the delts, the right shoulder certainly appreciated that today. Quick tip: incline dumbbell press is an excellent exercise for total upper body strength. Regardless of you fitness goal, you should be doing this exercise. • So here's the tip. You might have been told to bring the dumbbell out to the side and flare out your elbows a little bit to to get the full upper chest stretch. • That's fine... but it is much better to keep the elbows tucked in a little bit the same as you would do on a flat bench. Bring the dumbbells down to your mid your lower chest depending on whatever you do with the flat press. • The reason I say that is because when you press up, the dumbbells (or even a barbell for that matter) would still end up above your head. So just with that change, you are training your upper chest more. There is no need to make the other change - where you bring the bar down to your upper chest. • This is much safer on your shoulders, not to mention you will be able to lift more weight if you do it this way. The reason I took this video from the side is so you can see that my elbow is not flared out. • Try this and you will definitely be able to lift more.
