Saturday 22nd September. Paris. 17 degrees. Started the day catching the Metro to Rue de Rivoli where we collected our tickets for the Hop On Hop Off bus. Walked to Notre Dame then along the Seine and across to the Latin Quarter on the left bank of the Seine. Caught bus past the Sorbonne, along the left bank of the Seine and then up the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe.
Then climbed the 284 steps to the top of the Arc!! Amazing 360 degree views of Paris. Was fun to watch the traffic around the Étoile roundabout fight it out with others for dominance.
Then a walk down the Champs Élysées - and a visit to the official Paris St Germain store (soccer) for a jersey. Baguettes for lunch. Started raining mid afternoon as we caught the bus again. Hysterical female bus driver weaving her way through the traffic was great entertainment. Passed the Eiffel Tower, the Opera House, the Louvre Museum, Bonaparte’s statue, Hôtel Ritz (where Princess Di last stayed), Joan of Arc statue and many more.
Up to Montmartre, passed the Moulin Rouge, caught a glimpse of Sacré-Cœur and dropped off at Gare du Nord (largest train station in Europe) - just near our hotel.
A busy and exhausting day! #bejaceurope18 #paris
