Odyssey: One off hand cut paper sculpture 21cm x 21cm x 5cm.
The idea for this piece came to me as I drifted off to sleep recently and once it all started to come together it really looks like a set for a film like 2001: A space odyssey. 🌎🌑💫⭐️🌟☄️🚀🛸 at The Moon

DAY 20: DESIGN PROCESS -
All hand drawn, all hand cut - all the time, every time!
Seven layers of tracing paper to refine this concept - I think @vince_frost might even like this one!
Day 20 of #marchmeetthemaker - the prompt is Design Process
When quilling a wedding invitation mat that will be framed, I take design cues from the invitation itself, and sometimes the couple’s wedding website provides clues as to their color palette and preferences. In this case, the invitation featured a muted city skyline and pale green block lettering.
Knowing that the loosey-goosey scrolls I often do would soften the look - most likely not the couple’s taste based on the lettering style - I went instead with small seedlings in green and silver that were reaching toward the light as a nod to new beginnings. Speaking of which, Happy Spring/Autumn!
Mekala Tinnin (@tiethatbinds) designed the invitation.

March Meet the Maker: Day 20 Design Process.
Without going into to too much detail this is how I go about setting out a design for a paper cut. Lots of measuring and drawing things out on the reverse of the paper way before cutting anything. It’s times like these I wish I’d paid more attention at school 😂

I love the forever changing shadows that you get with paper art! I had to get a shot of the waves when they looked like they were thrashing last time I visited @daleywaley08 (where this whale lives) 🌊🌊 the sea must have been choppy that day 🤔😅
