TURKISH SIT-UPS: Proper ab work. For decades, people have been doing crunches and sit-ups in a desperate attempt to get solid abs. Different variations and crazy rep schemes were the norm. I used to do 4 sets of 200, 3 times a week. 🤪 ▪ While there is nothing wrong with the exercises themselves, they are usually prescribed badly. The problem is, simply put; Not enough resistance. ▪ You may have heard the phrase "time under tension" when it comes to building muscle and strength. Basically what that means is; The muscles need to be under enough tension for enough time in order to adapt. It's hard to put exact numbers on that but about 60% of your 1 rep max of a given exercise seems to work fine. ▪ When working with 60% (or above) you should fatigue anywhere from 5 to 15 reps. That's why you see this rep scheme a lot. If you can do hundreds of reps in a row, then you're just not using a heavy enough weight to challenge the strength of the muscles, you're working endurance now. ▪ Strong abs are part of a strong core which is part of a strong body. On DIETS!! They all work. BUT.....the thing you must know is however you "lose" weight must be a way you continue to eat to maintain the weight loss. So, you need to like how you eat throughout the whole process or you will gain the weight back.. Just think about it. My diet has no name. I eat food- the right amount for my goals, I eat until satisfied, not stuffed. I enjoy a higher protein diet, but sprinkle in enough carbs, fats and alcohol to be satisfied without constantly going over the amount where I start to gain. What does satisfied mean? In the words of Georgie Fear: "When you aren't feeling better by eating more, you're in the satisfied zone." Overall, the most important thing is to recognize and remember that it’s the consistency of our behaviors and choices that creates our outcomes, not the ‘every once in a while’ meals or events. Your diet doesn't have to have a name either. Just eat food. Eat just enough Eat until satisfied not stuffed Enjoy everything in moderation Find an approach or approaches that work for you and put it into action.
