sometimes when i don’t get to the gym for whatever reason, and my routine or program gets kind of thrown off, i like to do a total body work out the first day back. just feels right, ya know? today: 10 min treadmill on 3.5-4 mph, 3–10% incline. 5 minute stairmaster 2.5 min row superset 10 walkout push ups X 2 circuit 1 - 15 KB sumo squats - 10 squat jumps -10 push ups X3 circuit 2 - 10 floor press - 10 burpees - 16 renegade rows (8 ea side) X3 circuit 3: - 12 db curl to press - 15 weighted russian twist - 10 v ups X 3 don’t forget cool down/stretch/smr 🌹x

Finished yesterday’s workout with a few #barbell #bicep #curls. Even though I feel I have a bit of size to my #arms and am relatively strong on my upper body pulling #exercises, my #strength when it comes to curls is poor. Here I am curling 40kg, but this is set number 2 in a #workout where my #biceps have not done a huge amount of work. I definitely consider this to be a bit of a weakness of mine. The plan will serve as your road map that you should/will go back to when things get tough. Keep the plan visible in multiple places. • You're going to want change everything at once. DON'T. Whether it's a family members or a friends, find a small group of people who you can vent to or rely on to give you a gentle nudge back in the right direction. • Consistency is going to be key. Before you bench press next time try doing: High volume band face pulls to prime the posterior prior. They are a great way to get blood flow into the shoulder joint before horizontal pressing. I’ve found this helps my clients reduce pain around in the shoulder when they press. If you are trying to drop some excess body fat like most people going to the gym are, drinking your calories might not be the best idea. Unless you are already carrying a substantial amount of lean muscle tissue, and/or have a very active job/lifestyle, you are most likely creating a deficit by consuming less than 2000-2500 calories. If you need to consume less than 2500 calories each day (or as a daily average) you could easily consume half of this in drinks alone. If you have an orange juice with breakfast, grab a latte on the way to work for the office, have a coke with your meal deal at lunch, an energy drink before your workout/spin class etc. then relax in the evening with a beer/cider/wine or two you could easily exceed 1000 calories before accounting for the food you ate that day. This is just one reason why I feel counting your calories is essential for most people, at least for a short period of time to become aware of the energy value of the food and drink you frequently consume. You will quickly learn what drinks are making it challenging to create a deficit and opt for the diet/lower calorie versions, or even cut them out completely. A #barbell bent-over-row for some people is one of the more difficult exercises to master. Not knowing how to keep a flat back, whilst maintaining slight knee flexion and then bending at the hip to a 90-degree position can be a challenge. But it can be broken down with a few key coaching points. Some key points in addition to the few noted in this video is to squeeze your shoulder blades together to help sort your back. This along with a tight core will put you in a "safe" position. From here bend at the hip as if you were going to touch your toes whilst simultaneously pushing your butt backwards as if you are trying to push a button on the wall with your backside. Using a mirror and mastering the position is key before loading and lifting. RESISTANCE CURVE OF AN EXERCISE The resistance curve indicates how much resistance the weight offers and how much is needed to move the weight. Ideally for training, you want the resistance curve to match the strength curve. However, occasionally this is not the case. You can change this by using bands or chains. I never been comfortable in my own skin...I’ve been skinny my whole life, but that just it...there was no muscle to me...so clothes just never fit me right. 🤢uhh...when I look back...it makes me🤮 I’ve always enjoyed working out when I felt motivated, but like most people I would make excuses to not workout OR not stick to better eating habits! Here I am...looking back when I started my fitness journey first of the year after I was just recovering from my ankle surgery! I’m not in the gym 7 days a week...but I do try to get a 1 hour workout and/or cardio in at 4 days a week at home or at the gym. I’m back down in my hometown for a quick visit with family and some Christmas shopping. I wanted to get to the gym for a workout but I didn’t have enough time for the program I’m doing. Instead of just saying oh well I don’t have enough time I went a got in a quick full body workout. Something is always better then nothing. #TryhardTuesday This is the final week of a month-long program. It had a heavy powerlifting focus as I prepare for the powerlifting competition I’ll be running later in December. These next 4 weeks I will be honing in on my competition lifts. Heavy form work under the competition standards to make sure I’m ready to go. ••• Today I worked up to a heavy 3 rep max on incline bench. This was a nice change because I haven’t worked incline in a while. Ended up getting 275lbs, which I was happy with.
