There's a few things I enjoy in the morning. One I won't mention, the other is with a hot, perfectly brewed cup of coffee. - By the time you've finished it you've got more energy, clarity, other people are tolerable, and you can take on the world. God bless you you wonderful creation. - Unfortunately we can build up a tolerance to caffeine and in order to reach the magical caffeine buzz, we need more and more. - And that's not always good seeing as anything upwards of 400mg can start to get unhealthy. That's about 2-3 cups from some high street "coffee" shops. - But all is not lost. you can reset your tolerance and get back to the good old days where one cup would have you feeling like a unicorn surfing on a rainbow. - Above I outline two ways to do this. - One way is quicker but could turn you into the Incredible Hulk for a short time. - The other way will take longer, but be a more mellow journey. - If you need 4+ cups of coffee just to feel normal, sorry, but it's time for a reset. - I have good news though. Happy 5am! There’s a before picture here, and 3rd is no flex. Consistency is key. Specifically I want to comment on the V-taper. Long story short, when I began getting more serious about the body I want to walk around this planet with, I wanted to build the V-taper. So I did. While there are many more components to begin working toward, a few imbalances, adding inches to the arms, more growth in general, the point is, if we try to do it all at once, we’ll get overwhelmed. • The V-taper is the look of a wide upper body and smaller waist. I used to be more of that refrigerator style. Something about putting thought and effort into literally changing the shape of the body was exciting to me, as were the simply benefits of building an inspiring physique. • The key is just consistency and patience. The two photos are about 3 years apart. In that before photo, I had just finished a weight loss and general fitness process. I had a huge gut and very low fitness level and I didn’t feel good. After focusing on THAT goal. I was ready to begin sculpting an ideal “figure” in my mind. We’ve got to break things up into components. • I studied. That’s key. I looked up and worked out programming designed for the look I wanted to achieve first. The V-Taper is built through compound movements based on the back, chest, and shoulders, in that order. • Most people ignore their back because they don’t see it! Haha, but the physique most of us want really rests on a wide back. The back expands beyond the rest of your upper body muscle, actually creating more room for your chest to fill, and adding shoulder width without even needing to work the shoulders (although you should.) • After consistently training for the base V-taper, it came. It was about focus. You just train for what MAIN component you want first and keep going until you get there. • Now that the main figure is there, any kind of mass gain focus will maintain this shape and grow it. • Now, I can move on to begin training for a focus on arm growth. • Once the arms grow to the size I feel inspired by when I look in the mirror, we’ll choose the next focus, or just maintain :) • What area bothers you most? FOCUS ON THAT.

#HEADJUDGE This feedback from Vince has truly made my day, everyone in bodybuilding knows Vince. Being Head Judge is a role I take very seriously and the full responsibility for everything that goes on in the judging team stops at my door PERIOD. I had an amazing team of judges. Having to give feedback to Athletes who have not placed is always tough but those who know who I am and what I stand for know I will give HONEST constructive feedback. I am not a people pleaser and sadly there are many not being honest with athletes simply to please them or not to hurt their feelings but that's worse, far worse. Bodybuilding is about judging the body, if it hurts to hear feedback about your body then you shouldn't be in bodybuilding. I once placed 10th in a show and instead of wollowing in my own self pity. I took two years out, worked my ass off, came back flew on my own to Canada competed in open fitness model ( against girls young enough to be my daughter's) and masters fitness model and won both classes and then received my Pro card. It's so easy to complain it's so easy to blame, but it's much harder to say I need to get my sh*t together and come back correct👊🏽

Knee Valgus. What is it and why is it bad? It is where there is inward knee movement involving internal rotation of the femur and hip adduction. It’s commonly seen in running, squatting and lunging. Knee movement should occur in the same direction the toes are pointed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Knee Valgus leads to an increased risk in patellofemoral (knee) pain, ACL tears, MCL injuries and IT band issues. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The main causes are 1️⃣ Weak Hips - Characterized by a lack of strength or engagement from the gluteal muscles which play a large role in femoral external rotation and hip abduction. 2️⃣ Reduced Ankle Range of Motion - Lack of ankle dorsiflexion causes compensation where the feet pronate (arches collapse) to allow for more forward knee movement. 3️⃣ Anatomy - individual anatomical differences such as gender, pelvic width, femur shape, hip joint shape and feet can all predispose someone to a higher chance of knee Valgus. A lovely neighbour just dropped some oranges off fresh from his tree ❤️ My raw chocolate is a winner in our house and the vitamin c from the oranges helps to absorb the iron from the cacao powder🙏 4 tablespoons of cacao powder 3 tablespoons of rice malt syrup 1 cup of coconut oil Squeeze of half an orange Blitz in the blender for 30 secs, making sure you have melted the coconut oil before hand. Place in a baking tray with baking paper and leave to set in the fridge. No Ragrets! Nope not one 😂😂. But you tell me. You ever had a cheat meal you regretted? . . . It seems like most cheat meals gone wrong usually start with “so I went to this Mexican restaurant... “ or “ I decided to have Chinese and...” 😩🤦🏽‍♀️ ...long story short things get real poopy💩 . So here are a few tips for best way to utilize your cheat meals to work for you and not against you: 1. Go beast mode in the gym. Preferably in early in the day. I know I know, more working out but you don’t want your cheat meal to set you way back. Plus depleting your glycogen storage keeps your body from storing carbs as fat. High rep circuts are your best bet on these days 2. DONT starve yourself days ahead by restricting your calorie intake. Not only will you most likely over eat but your metabolism will begin to drop making it harder for your body to burn off said cheat meal. 3. Stick with high carb, moderate protein cheat meals. Your body takes more energy to burn through carbs and especially protein which equates to you still burning good calories even while cheating 4. Avoid Meals that are high in fat. Dietary fat is similar to body fat so your body doesn’t take much energy in its conversion process there causing more immediate fat storage. So you ask “Gina, what the hell should I eat then!” Lol I’ll tell you. -burger but no cheese or mayo -non greasy pizza if you can find it lol -pasta (non creamy), no Alfredo’s but spaghetti and meatballs is just fine -sushi if you like Japanese but no tempora -pancakes and omelettes are great too -steak and potatoes, always a classic There are more options if you want to get creative. These are just a few I can think of. Stay within the guidelines and you’ll still hit your body goals. Father's Day.......♥️ (I was going to do a video but I won't be able to keep it together. 😅) Today is a great day but it makes me think of all the things I missed with my dad. I only got to know and experience as much about a dad that a boy just turning 15 could. You know how you have memories that stick out the most..... Mine is everytime he came home from being gone for a month... He worked 30 days away and home 30 days.... there would be huge excitement in the air. He would bring me and my sister a gift many times from over seas and we would get to be with him. It didn't matter if it was helping him build a workshop or just seeing him in his chair. When my boys ask to do work outside with us or go to the gym I understand why now. My dad was an awesome person. Calm but stern, very intellectual (he was a wizard with rubix cube and awesome in chess), and he made me feel safe. My biggest memory is a comment he made.. "I'm going to live to 120 years old" That made me feel so happy and safe as a kid. I thought of all the things we would be able to do together. Then life happened one day Within literally 12 hours we found out he was going to die...... quickly. Leukemia was diagnosed after he woke up one day with half his body bruised. I remember the day my parents told us so vividly. I can't imagine how hard that was for them. NO NO NO.... My brain didn't allow me to believe it because someone so great wasn't allowed to die. Why God did this happen when I needed him most as a growing man? I cried almost every night asking this over and over. Past experiences shape a person and what that person does with those experiences determines what good or bad they can spread through the world. Everything in my past (boy do I have some intense story for a later time) has given me the passion of what I do now. I want to help others not make mistakes that happen because of choices. ...or should I say not making choices. Yes many things in life are out of our control like what happened with my dad but many are based from decisions. Or you can atleast decrease the chances.

Day 5 - Struggle Buggle #eattrainbereboot Thai green fish curry for dinner but I didn’t get a nice pic. Look at these amazing sweet potato + black bean burgers though from yesterday. “I see all these before and after results, and wish it could be me” . Jacks been training for years, jumping to and from training programmes, and just eating “healthy” - and while this can get you so far, it will only do that…. . Improving body composition, losing body fat, building muscle, and getting stronger, requires structure, monitoring, assessment, analysis, and accountability. . You need to know, 1) what you are currently doing, and 2) whether it’s working or not, and you’ll only know this if you are assessing what you are doing. . Jack came to me with a pretty clear-cut goal.. . “I need to get as lean as possible in 6 weeks, for a photo shoot” . I expressed that this is a short time frame to work towards, and while it is possible, it will require a lot of effort, commitment, and sacrifice, however Jack got straight out of the blocks with the coaching, being 100% adherent to the protocols we set, and within the first few weeks made a significant dent in his progress. . I made it very clear to jack early on, the closer you can keep to these guidelines, the faster you will make progress - he did exactly that. . With his extremely active job (25,000-40,000 steps per day) his expenditure was through the roof, and with a few tweaks to his nutrition lead his fat loss to get up to speed very quickly. . Over the past 9 weeks, jacks lost 24 lbs, got into the shape of his life, and achieved what he once thought wasn’t possible. . I think it’s safe to say Jacks now got his own “before and after” and if I don’t say so myself, it’s a pretty damn good one ;) . I love being vegan! 🌱 My eating or exercise HAS NOT been going to plan because I’ve been traveling and engulfed with work. It happens to all of us at times.. Lucky for me, now I don’t have my results falling away as soon as I step away from my plan as seen in this picture, taken this past Friday. Eating out and on the go doesn’t effect me as much because I’m not consuming all the medications, hormones (and who knows what else?!) Given to the animals we are harvesting for the products we have invented from using them. Go vegan and have this peace of mind too. Oh the mistakes I’ve made! But I like to think I’ve made them so you don’t have to! 💁‍♀️ . These are three images in different periods of my life, which have shaped the way I design my programmes and coach my clients. . Image one I was in my 20’s and probably in the worst shape of my life... unfit, bloated, drinking too much, eating waaaay too much (my nick name was miss piggy) and to top it all off I was miserable in my job, so I was constantly self sabotaging with food and alcohol. . Fast Forward a few years and I had changed my life around! I stepped into the gym for the first time at 27! I loved working with my personal trainer and decided that I wanted to help people feel more confident, like I was feeling. A few years in and I was doing what I thought I ‘should’ do as a personal trainer. I dieter hard for this pic and trained even harder - I looked good but I felt awful, exhausted and stressed I realised this wasn’t sustainable. I wanted to look good, but more importantly I wanted to feel good - I didn’t feel good! . The final picture is more recent. At last I’ve found a good balance! I love my food and wine, so I’ll never give that up, but I have found the right way to get in shape and stay in shape, without feeling miserable and deprived. . ✨What’s the best thing your father taught you? . . . I grew up looking at a poster of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s body barely clothed in a fitness pose in my Dads “gym” (that part of the house that we weren’t allowed to play lol). That was his fitness inspirations.My dad had a killer work ethic as well as workout ethic. But still found time to be and awesome dad. I still laugh at the memories of me and my baby sis on his back while he would swim laps in the pool on base.He never missed an opportunity to condition his body. He took me to watch my first fitness competition when I was 9. Had I had any sense I would have started my own training the next day lol. But watching those incredible men and women never left my mind, I knew somebody that would be me. My father has also taught me many more things. He taught me how to cook, sew, how to manage money, and to virtually be as independent as possible. He taught me to not be afraid of the world but to make the world afraid of me. He is my best friend, my teacher, my inspiration and the greatest dad I could ever have. I wish I could have helped my own mother be healthy. Her stroke happened when I was still in school. I never saw her run, lift a weight, do a push up. I could have cared less if she ever got into a bikini. Unfortunately poor health led to her eventual passing. Even as an adult, Im just a kid affected by his moms health decisions. Now I try to make it easier for moms to get a little healthier. ____________________________________________________ I try to do 2 things with my clients: 1. Help them get out of their body's way. Theres a misconception that beating your body down and restricting certain food is the way to results. It isnt. The body WANTS to move and be healthy but it also wants to rest and recover and be fueled. 2. Help them shift from a "this summer" mindset to a "this life" mindset. Because if you take care of the long term, you don't ever have to stress about the short term "If you stay ready, you never have to get ready"👌🏽 *If you need my help, I'm available anywhere there's internet.
