Hey all from Felix and myself.
So in the previous 2 posts you may of noticed the #autism #autismawareness well this is because Felix my beloved baby boy was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder/Condition at the end of February 2019, this was something that was suspected for a little while but having a difinitive answer doesn't change him and who he is, it doesn't change the love I have for him, it doesn't change how I see him, it doesn't change a single thing he is still the same child I gave birth to and the same child who stole my heart at first sight.
Autism wasn't anything new to me, growing up I had a brother and two cousins who are all Autistic all on different parts of the spectrum and I grew up to this, this was normal and still is to me, this made no difference to how I viewed any of my loved ones they are ALL individuals who excel in their own ways, one has an amazing memory and writes his own stories and has an amazing lego collection another is fantastic in photography and media and is starting his journey into this and the other is always smiling and a little Einstein!
There are struggles for Felix that for you and I seem like nothing but to Felix he views and hears the world differently to us everything is heightened, the smells, sounds, touch, lights and sights so this can make the world seem scary so he does like his normalities and his own space but this doesn't stop him still seeing the world with us - just be considerate of his senses! He has tantrums that last hours, yes, they are bad.. But! He also laughs for hours, he's loving, cuddly, he loves music, his sensory toys and balls, he is obsessed with #pawpatrol and #thebeemovie
Felix is amazing in many ways and the things he needs help with understanding and how to cope with mummy is always going to be there to help him every step of the way because Felix you are NEVER going to be alone. Felix you have brought so much joy into my life I couldn't of wished for anything more! You make me the person I love being - your mum.
Autism is just the label but the person behind the label is so much more than anyone can begin to imagine 💙. My sons superpower is autism, what's yours? 💙
