When you google for the top places to eat in Hanoi, Cha Ca Thăng Long will definitely appear as one of the few choices.
This place serves marinated fried turmeric fish with lots of spring onions and dill. To enjoy, simply get a mouthful of rice noodles into your bowl, get a few pieces of that lovely fried fish with the herbs/veg, drizzle the sauce (special fish sauce seasoning), sprinkle some peanuts /chili/mint leaves, mix it up and enjoy it! .
The fragrance from the turmeric and spring onions really enhance the taste of this dish. Blend together with the sauce, DIVINE! I always thought Vietnamese cuisine is bland and “healthy” because it’s always loaded with lots of herbs and vegetables but this trip to Hanoi really change the way I look at it. Their cuisine has a balanced taste - sweet, salty, sour, umami, very appetizing and fresh. at Chả cá Thăng Long
