Looking to change up breakfast 🥑 and add in some healthy fat to keep you feeling full and fueled up longer?! This little brekkie I made this weekend was super filling and so tasty. Mashed the avocado with lime, garlic, salt and pepper and topped some whole grain toast with the spread. Next I added one hard boiled egg cut up into fourths. Avocado provides a whole host of nutrients but I'd like to mention it's a great source of folate and fiber. Folate is important for fetal brain development and fiber will help with keeping momma regular 👍 Baby and I had two slices so 2 eggs and 2 slices of toast. Really loving my instant pot, it is seriously the best thing since sliced gluten free bread 😉 I love being able to put together healthy meals in no time flat. Quick and easy is my specialty IN THE KITCHEN y'all It may not take the best pics, but this shepherd's pie from @predominantly_paleo tastes DELISH. It even has my mom's approval! I want to know... what does healthy eating mean to you? My philosophy towards healthy eating involves getting back into the kitchen and preparing meals from scratch. It's all about eating real, whole foods. Incorporating preparation methods and foods that our ancestors used like fermenting and soaking to make things more easily digestible I don't count calories or measure my ketones. I listen to my body and eat intuitively and mindfully. Am I 100% perfect? Hell no. (I've come to the realization that perfection is unattainable btw...former perfectionista here 🙋‍♀️) Do I eat store bought mayo and gluten free crackers sometimes? Hell yes, but they have to meet my requirements which include ➡️ minimal ingredients + recognizable non-health deterring ingredients + no refined hydrogenated vegetable oils + no refined sugars + I avoid gluten/dairy/soy/corn + the list goes on... I also do not restrict myself and enjoy 🍕🥞🍧🍪 every once in a while without guilt. Life is all about that ideal BALANCE 😎 Eating healthy does not equal bland and boring in my book. Hallo ihr Lieben, es scheint so als wäre der Frühling endlich im Anmarsch. Ich habe deshalb heute meinen Tag erstmal mit einem gemütlichen Kaffee in der Sonne begonnen und war dann noch ne Runde im Volksgarten laufen. Das ist sicherlich ein Vorteil der Selbstständigkeit: der typische Montagmorgen, an dem alle schlecht drauf sind, findet bei mir einfach nicht statt. Ich bleibe lieber noch ne halbe Stunde länger im Bett, mache Sport und leckeres Frühstück bevor ich erst gegen Mittag ins Büro gehe. Dafür arbeite ich dann lieber bis in den Abend hinein, aber für mich fühlt sich das so viel angenehmer an, als mich um sieben aus dem Bett zu quälen und früh bei der Arbeit aufzuschlagen und dadurch bin ich auch denn ganzen Tag viel produktiver. Habt ihr auch einen Trick wie ihr immer gut in die Woche beginnen könnt? 😻Let’s talk a little more about the MATADOR study which I posted earlier about on my stories (Holly Baxter/BioLayne discussion). . 📓The MATADOR study (Minimising Adaptive Thermogenesis And Deactivating Obesity Rebound), showed basically how taking breaks from calorie deficits or calorie restriction can actually be equal to or more effective than sustained caloric deficit over time. . . 💡Layman’s: Diet breaks = beneficial to get lean more effectively in this research study. . . “Greater weight and fat loss was achieved with intermittent Energy restriction. Interrupting ER with energy balance ‘rest periods’ may reduce compensatory metabolic responses and, in turn, improve weight loss efficiency.” . 📈intermittent type calorie restriction, where subjects took part in alternating 2-week blocks of Calorie deficit eating and then maintenance cals led to greater fat loss without greater loss of FFM and superior weight loss retention after 6 months, compared with an equivalent ‘dose’ of continuous ER. . 👀This brings up a little topic of metabolic rate. As we start a calorie restricted diet we begin to lose weight, however this slows down over time as a protective mechanism (to save you from perishing away quickly). This in many cases is where we hit a wall with weight loss. . . 🤩Incorporating in these diet “breaks” or alternating weeks as shown in research may actually be a helpful tool to give yourself a break mentally, to help your metabolism when it comes to weight loss, and be an opportunity to get some extra nutrients that may be lacking on a LCD. . . 🤔I don’t really believe in the whole “cheat meal/ cheat day” aspect (who the hell are you cheating on? I don’t know about you but I was always a crammer in exams. I even made up my end of year solo dance performances on the spot when they pushed play on the CD. 💃 . Why? I always trusted myself to know what was right for me. It firstly gives you the chance to add extra vegetables and fibre into your day, which we know are important in our overall digestive health and prevention against some diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and bowel disease. Other benefits include improved concentration at school or work, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, improved cardiovascular health and stable blood sugar levels. It is honestly up to the individual on how breakfast fits in with their routine and goals.
