I left oregon two years ago, almost to the day.
I left because I needed to. At the time it was a toxic environment for me. However, there isn't a single day that goes by that I do not think about or plan my return.
I have felt a pull to this state since I was a kid. My mom would travel here for work and we'd always stay at the doubletree on the Columbia River.
my sister and I would make forts, skip rocks (or attempt to), and of course eat the hotel's chocolate cookies.
for one reason or another, I have blocked out a lot of my childhood; however, my memories of work trips to Oregon are some of the most vivid I memories I have, and for that, I am thankful.
I strongly believe this is why Oregon will always feel like #home.
