What are you looking at here?
This is why we use a cushioned file or a diamond bit to prep the nails.
The file and buffer are both medium grit. But the file actually scratches (left side of nail) the surface and gives minor texture so product can adhere and grow out without lifting. If you do the buffer (right side) the simple motion of the buffer alone actually smooths the nail so product will lift.
But doesn’t that texture hurt the nail plate? The goal is to apply the product once. We don’t beat the plate up and a trained tech will know the right amount of texture needed, but if the nail is smoothed and then the product lifts and it is smoothed again and again it is far more damaging to the plate.
