It took me 22 years to navigate my yes’s and no’s.
To say yes to myself, and when to say no to others. Even things as small as wearing a two piece bathing suit with no care in the world.
As a kid and growing into adulthood I learned how to be a chameleon. I would mold and change based off of what others needed at the time. In the process I would find a happiness because of their own, but would realize when stress and life happened that I was void.
God is our ultimate healer, and He can rescue us from the pits we dig ourselves into. He’s teaching me how to give to Him the troubles that people have and share with me, and to serve them in a way that doesn’t take value away from the person that I am.
He’s shown me time and time again that I am worthy, redeemed, and handcrafted. Eccentricities that I’ve hidden, He has exposed with truth and love. Anxiety that I wear as a safety blanket, He has cast out and set aside.
If you struggle today with being YOU, give it to Jesus. Don’t put it off on others, and don’t let others put it off on you. Give it to the one and only person who can handle it, and allow His love and security to hold you.
(And also— if you struggle with trauma or areas in your life where you need healing, seek wise counsel! I’ve been seeing a “counselor” for 4 years, and you’ll be amazed at the ways you can grow and learn about yourself)
